    3. Hi, Does anyone have any hints for this gentleman? I have posted him, however, I am not sure that is just what he is looking for. Seems like he may have hit a brick wall. Thanks Cilla -----Original Message----- From: Arne H Trelvik [SMTP:atrelvik@one.net] Sent: Saturday, February 10, 2001 8:46 AM To: cilla@execpc.com Subject: Peder Myre [Johansen] - Helgeland to America [maybe to Menasha, Winnebago Wisc???] This is a "longshot" effort to find out what became of a Peder Myre Johansen who emigrated from Aunet, Somna, Nordland, Norway in 1880. The family of his great great grand daughter in Norway would like to learn what became of him and if he had any family in the USA. Unfortunately, I don't have any clues on what name he took in the USA or where he was heading to. Family in the 1865 census is at http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/wc/webcens.exe?slag=n&filename=arki vver ket/ft1865/f61814&variabel=16&postnr=1664&fulle=true&spraak= Family in the 1875 census is at http://draug.rhd.isv.uit.no/ftsoek/ftsoek.asp?kommando=bosted&ftaar=1875 &spr aak=norsk_bokmal&kommnr=1814&kretsnr=004&bostnr=0006&leilnr=00 A "POSSIBLE" match in the Trondheim Emigrant List is at http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/wc/webcens.exe?slag=n&filename=arki vver ket/EMITROND&variabel=5&postnr=22325&fulle=true&spraak= The emigrant list shows a 21 year old Peder Johansen leaving for Menasha, Wisc in 1880 Peder is listed in the Soma bygdebok as shown below. If you would have any information on Peder Myre or suggestions on tracking him down, his Norwegian family would be very grateful. 3. Cilla, He has done all the right things in the information he has found below. According to the bygdebok information, he left for America in 1880 and was still there in 1908 (someone in the family probably received a letter from him at that time - Norwegian families often kept those letters ... even till today). He may be listed in the 1880 and 1900 census. Possible names he may have taken: Peder/Peter Myre / Peder Myhre / Peder Johanssen / Peder Johnson. Or a look in the county records could tell if he married there. Have you passed the information along to your lookup volunteer with the marriage records? Or suggested to him that he do that? Where did you post his information? I couldn't find it on the Winnebago web site to respond to it there.
