Hi everyone , I have a question about lookups in books that are under copyright. The USGenWeb volunteer pages (http://www.usgenweb.org/volunteers/copyright.html) seem to imply that one needs to get the author's permission in writing to do lookups in a book under copyright. The new WIGenWeb pages suggest that if one own's the book, then one can do lookups. I have someone volunteering to do lookups in a book published in 1991 by a historical society. I also own a recently published book (again by a historical society) that I would like to do lookups in. Anybody know what's right?
