At the last meeting of our genealogical society, one of the members mentioned that he had just gone out to one of the oldest Catholic cemeteries in the county, and discovered that someone has just gone through it........with a wire brush. Now the oldest stones are no longer legible!!!!!!!! I just hope that we take the time to educate new genealogists on the proper way to do rubbings, and to tell them to leave those wire brushes home. Adds an incentive to those photographs!!!! Also, guess I need to create a page on my site for the safe way to do rubbings, or find one to link to. tracy reinhardt

I have, Tracy, But you know what? some are just so stubborn, and they think you don't know, and so they keep on what they are doing! :( Sometimes it can amount to almost a knock down drag out fight (feature that online!<g>) and you still don't make your point.
