All, In IL, where I am also a CC, they: * announce a vote, * take about a week for discussion on the ILGen list, * call for the vote, * give about 5-7 days for voting, then * close the voting. Voting is over at a specific time, on a specific day. Votes are submitted either to the list or one of 2 people, who copy each other on all votes and cross-check each other's counts. Usually, the SC knows who is out of town, ill or otherwise out of the loop, and can contact them, if necessary. It seems to work well. Just a suggestion.
