    3. I think some people mis-understood the intent of my motions. My belief is that there should be an offical vote on ALL issues which are raised in discussion that will ultimately determine what WI CCs can or can't do on the pages. A "discussion" just doesn't cut it, as the majority of people don't even get involved , but are "forced" to live with the vocal majority. All WI CCs have a right to determine what happens in the WIGenWeb project and the fairest way for all to be heard and represented is in a vote. Second, way TOO much was read into my motion about whether or not there should be an offical set of WIGenWeb logos or banners (this is a bar across the top of the page combining words and graphics - NOT banner as in a flag). Simply put, what I suggested was a set of logos or banners, in differing color schemes, so they MATCH the pages that each CC currently has. I didn't say anything about stiffeling anyone's creativity, taking down what you have, or anything else. We are already using the USGenWeb Logo, and it seems to make sense (to some people) to add the WIGenWEb Logo (some people are using them and NONE of us voted on it or agreed to it, we just sorta did it, and now there is a hodgepodge of stuff, but NONE of it is offical without a vote). Besides, all WI CC's will have the right to vote whether mandatory use for the logo/banner is IN or OUT. If we vote YES on it, then all WI CCs have the right to vote on what logo to use. [I made a joke about the cow, as the SC and I have a great working relationship and can poke alittle fun at each other without having to explain it is in jest. But if it is voted in, I WILL use it.] Also, I stated for the MAIN page, not all the pages, but if the WI CC wanted to use it on each, they could. Contrary to popular belief, we DO happen to be an organization, which provides free genealogy to the public. While we DON'T sell anything, we certainly provide a service. USGenWeb has guidelines (by-laws) which we are required to follow. Also, there are WIGenWeb by-laws posted. The point is that NONE of the WI CCs voted on them, which seems like the WI CCs would want to have the right to vote them in or out, especially if we are going to have to follow them. While discussions on the topic may be heated (grin), please try to be kind and thoughtful in your replies (and remember your email has the same effect as if standing with a microphone in front of a large audience - the delivery is being broadcast to many people, without the body language, so your message could be easily misunderstood). There are so many wonderful people on this list, who would love to hear ALL the opinions, when put forth in a positive and constructive format. There is NO need to get huffy, or make inappropriate remarks about people who are different from YOU or YOUR tastes. (And if you have the urge, send it privately to avoid embarassment.) In closing, I am extremely proud to support the few organizations who claim my membership, and try to treat those individuals with the same respect and dignity that I would like to be afforded. And damned right, I am a FLAG waving, baby kissing, country loving MARINE, who will defend your right to disagree with me, to DEATH if necessary. So, please, take take time to look at what the current by-laws are and what my post said. We might have more in common than not. Thanks for listening, and constructive criticism (one on one) is always welcome. R/S MAK --- WIGEN-D-request@rootsweb.com wrote: __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
