Hi All, Continuing the idea of Sullivan in Jefferson County, I checked the book "Wisconsin: It's Territorial and Statehood Post Offices" by the Wisconsin Postal History Society and found these items about Sullivan WI: Sullivan 1: Post Office established Jan. 20, 1846 with Joshua W Osgood as postmaster. It was discontinued Feb. 6, 1883, with mail service from Oak Hill. Location unknown, other than its location was Jefferson Co. Sullivan 2: See Winfield. Winfield: Established Sept. 22, 1879, with Casper Braun as postmaster. The name was changed to Sullivan April 4, 1883 by Casper Braun. The office is still in service, zip code 53178. IN 1878 it was located in the NE 1/4 of Section 25, Town 6 North, Range 16 East in the Township of Sullivan and by 1899 it had been moved to the NE 1/4 of Section 3. The requester of the info may not be aware but in typing the Waushara, Green Lake and Marquette County biographies for the Marquette site, we are finding a number of errors in old county histories about locations, such as Centralia twp instead of the city of Centralia in Wood Co., etc. Joan Coordinator Adams Co.
