    3. Thank you all so much for the wonderful responses to my question. I am overwhelmed by your kindnesses. I was aware of the cutoff date of 1923, but thought perhaps since the Wisconsin Historical Society was still actively publishing their quarterly "Magazine of History", that maybe this article would fall under some "updated" copyright law. From what I've read within the links that have been submitted here, and also checking the US Copyright website, searching through the 'serials' of the WHS, I believe that it is okay to use this article. I just didn't want to do anything wrong. Thanks again for all your help, everyone! 3. Copyright does not normally apply to anything over 75 years old unless the organization renewed it - the simplest way would be to request permission from the State Historical Society - better yet, check and see if it is already on-line at: http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/ or not to put the entire article on line - rephrase it and site the source - and make a note on the site that it has been edited R/S MAK --- WI CC x 6 <wigenwebcc@gmail.com> wrote: > Someone recently donated an article that was printed > in a 1919 issue of the > "Wisconsin Magazine of History". 3. Lori that is terrific! Keep us posted if you should get proofs of book when it comes out. It amazes me the interest in cemeteries and tombstone photos that our researchers and visitors have. They weren't sure which photo it was they wanted (saw it a while back & can't remember the details, just the surname and that it was an old stone) and said if I didn't know which one they meant (I was able to figure it out), could I recommend another good photo? First of all, I'm honored. Second, I'm stumped. My photographic methods are odd, to say the least (walk, point, shoot, walk, point, shoot), as is the "instrument" I use to photograph (a 5+ year old digital camera that uses 3.5 floppies).
