Peggy, Did you try doing this the other way around (i.e., turn on the gateway via your GenConnect admin screen, rather than adding GenConnect to your mail list)? I am the administrator for my GenConnect boards, but not for my "paired" county list, so this is the way it worked for me: the Marinette County list administrator requested that the gateway be turned on, and I was sent an auto-generated message from the GenConnect system with the following URLs to help me accomplish this. #3 is the one for getting the job done. There is a bright yellow box on the change form; all you have to do is click on a button, and it's done. #1 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about gateways http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/AdminCenter/gateway #2 Request form for gateway changes http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/cgi-bin/gateway_request.cgi #3 Change form (for toggling the gateway on or off) http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/signup/change.html Deana Hipke Marinette County WiGenWeb Coordinator http://www.rootsweb.com/~wimarine The Great Peshtigo Fire of 1871 http://userpages.chorus.net/dhipke/peshtigo.html P.S. Hi all, Well, I'm a bit behind the times here with getting things done and am trying to get caught up just a tad. I rediscovered the email notice sent out in March about adding the gen-connect queries to your mailing list and attempted to follow the instructions. But I must have missed somewhere along the line and could use some help please. I added gc-gateway@rootsweb.com to my wiiowa mailing list just as a usual subscriber. I tried to find the "accept list" portion from my utility page - but didn't find it. Obviously something didn't work as I'm now receiving bounce notices for this address. Would someone help me get this figured out - I could really use the expertise. I've seen the accept list thing before, but now I'm not finding it. Thanks! In case anyone was running out of cow puns..... All I need to know about life I learned from a cow Wake up in a happy moo-d. Don't cry over spilled milk. When chewing your cud, remember: there's no fat, no calories, no cholesterol and no taste. The grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Turn the udder cheek and mooo-ve on. Seize every opportunity and milk it for all it's worth. It's better to be seen and not herd. Honor thy fodder and thy mother and all your udder relatives. Never take any bull from anybody. Always let them know who's the bossy. Stepping on cowpies brings good luck. Black and white is always an appropriate fashion statement. Don't forget to cow-nt your blessings every day. And remember... life is easier when you take the bull by the horns.

I found out what my problem was on the indexing of the new pages that I had added to the Barron Co. site on Tuesday. I forgot to link them to the site! Pretty silly, huh? Well, sometimes we overlook the simplest of things and it takes others to help us to see them. Hey, if any of you are having problems with something on your websites, why not come to the chat next Wednesday and see if someone in there can help you out. They sure helped me...and fast too! My thanks to all who were there last night! :~) -- Nance mailto:nsampson@spacestar.net

What the exact syntax is, I'm not sure. Tim
I have a question about the coding that we've put on our pages that help us to break out of the pay-per-view or other sites that catch us up in their frames. If we put coding like this <a href="http://www.rootsweb.com/~wicountyname/" target="_top"> Site's Url </a> does this prevent search engines, such as PicoSearch from indexing our sites? I just added 4 new pages on the Barron Co site, went into the search engine reindexer and tried 3 times, but can't get the new pages picked up. Anyone know what my problem is? Your help is really appreciated! -- Nance mailto:nsampson@spacestar.net
