Excellent brochure Kelly!! In the blank spaces..... How about telling what is available for WI in the archives. Or how about a little info about the sites available for beginners, our lists available for help. Jan ----- Original Message ----- From: <WIGenWebProject@aol.com> > Okay, you all! Y'know.... we can add some really bad cow puns to the brochure, and it really would be different from everyone else's! <snicker> Kelly > I know, I know... <g>.. Kelly promised that she would take > responsibility for > the cow.. She stated.. <ducking>, that it wouldn't be WI without a cow...

Wanted to let you know that Don Schnitzler was nice enough to grant permission to put the indexes of his Marshfield History Books on our WoodCoWI site. They are indexed in three places: on the WoodCoWI site http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/history/marsh.htm on the USGenConnect Bio Board for WoodCoWI, and in the archives at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/wi/wood/wood.htm So if you do an engine search on your surname at the Archives or the USGenConnect Boards, you might find a match... Currently all of Book 1 is completed and indexed on line. The shells for Book 2 are up and the indexes will be inserted when it gets back from the publishers... So please don't email and say, hey where is book 2... It will get there so keep checking back, also, look for an annoucement... Don is doing lookups as well. This is extremely generous, so PLEASE only request a look up for people known to be in the Marshfield area. Requests that state "any SMITH" or "all JONES" is really NOT acceptable. Make sure when asking for a surname lookup, a given name is with it... And limit your request to one or two names... Remember, he is only one person, and doing this for anyone who is asking... Also, be sure to send a thank you when you get the information... In addition, these books can also be purchased, so check out the Marshfield History Project page at: http://homestead.com/marshfieldhistory/ R/S MAK ===== =========================== MAK = "Mar sea ah Ann Keel" MAKs Sites http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwood/links/MAK.html =========================== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? The year 2001 marks the 150th anniversary of Oconto County, Wisconsin; formed in 1851. Both the County and the WIGenWeb project site have many special things planned to celebrate this Sesquicentennial event (spelled that one right all by myself!). You may want to set aside some time to visit both in the coming year. The site already has many maps (old and new), specific addresses, place names and locations to help you discover the richness of your heritage. We have several wonderful, dedicated volunteers to help with your researching; offering information, suggestions and good resources. And the site is one place you will ALWAYS get more than your money's worth on every visit (because it's free). Open new doors this coming year and step into another time. Share some of what your ancestors experienced. This looks to be a great year to come. Enjoy our best to you, now, and in the months ahead. Happy New Year to each of you! Rita - Oconto County WIGenWeb Project Co-ordinator (and really proud of it). In an effort to promote all that you have happening within your counties, and avoid the "gee, I forgot it's Wednesday, it must be Wisconsin syndrome" <VBG> , I have established a WIGenWeb calendar at http://resources.rootsweb.com/~calendar/cgi-bin/calendar.cgi?calname=WIGenWeb_ Project. I have added this link to our Resources page http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigenweb/resources.html and our volunteer pages http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigenweb/volunteer-pages.html I encourge all of you to add events that relate to your counties. My very best wishes to all of you as we begin a new year with WIGenWeb! Tina
Please join me in welcoming Joan Benner to WIGenWeb Project, as the Adams County Coordinator. Joan brings with her a wealth of information, and I am very pleased to welcome her! Hip-hip-hooray! Joan! Welcome to our group and congratulations on a great job already. Your's will be a county we should all watch. If you add items to this county as you have contributed to some of our other counties (Trempealeau Co. is very thankful for you!), then some really wonderful things will be happening on the Adams Co. site. I'm so happy you are a part of our team! :0) -- Nance mailto:nsampson@spacestar.net
On February 2 and 3rd (Friday and Saturday), GenTech is having their annual convention in Mesquite Texas. This event promises to be a great opportunity to meet your fellow volunteers and promote USGenWeb and the WIGenWeb Project. GENTECH has provided meeting space for a "Meet and Greet" gathering of the volunteers at USGenWeb. Please mark your calendar for 5pm on Saturday to put a face with a name for some of your USGenWeb friends. Find out about the conference at the GenTech site: http://www.gentech.org/2001brochure/ There is a group attending from USGenWeb. If you are planning on attending contact Holly Timm, at hollyft@bright.net, as she would love to hear from those who plan to attend! Holly, along with others, are also gathering brochures from all of the State GenWeb Projects, the County sites, as well as the Special Projects. If you have a brochure, or would like to produce one for this event, please send it along to Holly or I. Again, this event proves to be a terrific way to promote all the good work you all do! Kelly and I are working on a WIGenWeb Project brochure, and will put it online when it is completed. I promise, no cows! <g>. There will also be a mIRC chat during the day on Saturday, February 3, so those of us that can't attend, can be part of the conference! Stay tuned for details on that! If any of you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them! Tina
