    2. Okay everyone... This is a multi tasking e-mail... First, Kenosha and Price Counties are being placed up for adoption. Jackie assures me though, as long as she has breath <g>, she will remain with Juneau County.. Thank you Jackie, and in the words of that Star Trek guy ... "May you live long and prosper!" I have been remiss in announcing the availability of Outagamie County as available for adoption. Jan, because of personal reasons placed this county up for adoption as well. I tried to work to find a coordinator, but have been unsuccessful, so have placed the "Adopt Me" sign there as well. I need your help ... actually I need to get a grip, but I won't open that discussion <VBG>, ... so I have a suggestion. Can each of you take a moment to visit the county page http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigenweb/counties.html and the county map page http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigenweb/map.html to assure that I have the links correct. Check both your e-mail and your county page link, and let me know if you can't get there from here ... In actuality.. while we take the time to Celebrate Wisconsin, let's take the time to Explore Wisconsin.. Take a look at the State pages, and let me, or the list know what needs fixing updating etc.! Bottom line guys, I really need a roll call, and this is my way around it. Humor me, and while you are at it, tell us all what's new and exciting in your counties! Tina.

    3. On the counties page Green works ok as does email. Rock county site comes up but on the email Tina Vickery is named for email and goes to her. Should be mine as I have had the site since Aug/ Sept. Walworth is ok for both On the map site, all of the links work. I have been working on cemetery updates for all three counties. Hope to have a listing of which are active and contacts. Donna WIGenWebProject@aol.com wrote: > Okay everyone... 3. Everything checks out good for Barron, Burnett, Eau Claire, Sawyer, Trempealeau and Washburn county links on the map and on the county page. Just staying busy over in my little corner of the world. Since putting the Volunteer pages on the county sites, I've been bombarded with items being donated, including family histories, photos, cemeteries, town histories, obituaries, biographies. You name it, it's being donated. You might not see me for a while, I'm still trying to dig out from under the avalanche! I'm also trying to get these county's pre-1907 records online. I'm not sure if I'm sleeping in front of my computer, but I find myself here bright and early in the morning and I'm still here late at night. :~) But loving every minute of it! -- Nance mailto:nsampson@spacestar.net

Several states and counties have jumped at the chance to promote the USGenWeb Project by producing brochures. That is a good thing :-) It will encourage the visitors of GenTech2001 to visit our sites and volunteer to help us all provide free genealogical information online. Special thanks go to Holly Timm, Lorraine Newsome, Richard Howland, Kathy Hudson, Bob Franks, and all of the SC's and CC's that have produced brochures to promote the USGenWeb Project. Please visit http://www.rootsweb.com/~nygenweb/gentech.html to read all about it. In conjunction with GenTech 2001 there will be a mIRC chat to allow all of us who can't attend "to attend" along with all the rest, isn't modern technology wonderful! Please join in, and chat with your fellow volunteers and vistors at GenTech2001. There will be two sessions: Date: February 3, 2001 Place: IRC server: irc.rootsweb.com (6667) Room: #usgw@gentech Time: 10:30 a.m. CTS 2:00 p.m CTS http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigenweb/irc-chat.html Hope to see you all! 3. Hi Everyone, In light of the message from Tim below, {Thanks Tim for letting me know} I have a question to ask and I am hoping someone here will have the answer from their own experience. When using the counter.rootsweb.com, would I have to create a separate account for each page on my website or can I use the same counter and end up with true numbers based on how many people visited the page and not the website. Meaning, if I start out with number one on the main page and Joe user goes to the Genealogy workshop page, would the counter then go to 2 or would it register as being 1 on the workshop page? Does that make sense? Thanks, Debie Blindauer Sheboygan & Calumet Counties >Actually it's happening universal to all using that form of counter - from >a talk >just now with RW folks. > >Seems the file that is hit for incrementing the counters is now trying to keep >counts for 1.2 million pages - in a file that is 104 megs in size and has >basically >died for the moment. > >RW programmer MadDoc suggests using counter.rootsweb.com as an alternative. > They will >fix it but when is the question. > >Tim > > >==== WIGEN Mailing List ==== >Celebrate Wisconsin! >Visit the La Crosse County WIGenWeb Project Pages >http://www.rootsweb.com/~wilacros/
