Debie, Thank you. I do realize that people get busy, and there are many priorities in life that prevent each of us from a constant involvement.. Thank God! That means that we are actively involved in life :-))) I will join that crowd... been there doing that.. It is is the most extreme non-involvement that I refer to. Thank you Jackie, I appreciate your saying that.. I have done that.. and for the most part no response.. that is why I bring to all of you.. do I continue to use my best judgment, or do you all want to have a say in the course I take. I truly enjoy working with all of you, you are an outstanding group of people, and I mean that most sincerely! But non response from CC's especially after I write to them 2 or 3 times with dates, I might add, gets frustrating. To be honest I have replaced some. I am really at a loss. I want to be fair, but I also have the responsibility of WIGenWeb Project and it's contributors and visitors. Hi Tina, I understand what you are going thru, as I am the SC for MN. Hi all, Remember when, we all hashed out the guidelines for maintaining WIGenWeb Project pages, how we all voted and came to the conclusion that what was posted on http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigenweb/volunteer-pages.html was what the majority of folks could live with? Well, I have a dilemma.. and I choose to bring it to all of you. I need your input. It has been brought to my attention that some of the County sites are showing non-host involvement. None that I have announced lately, all of those contacted me and worked with me to place their counties up for adoption. But, others have not.. Hate to admit it, but it be so :-( I have contacted the hosts in question, and asked for a response, offered help, done everything that I can think of to assist. Sometimes I get an answer, many times I don't. It is the case of "I don't's", that I need help with. Bottom line is I guess, for all of us, the mission of the WIGenWeb Project is to provide genealogical material and information on line free to our visitors. We are all volunteers, I understand that and respect that. Can all of you give some thought to what the guidelines should be for non-response of CC's and assist me in fairly remedying situations that require it. Tina
Tina, Please don't think I am trying to make an excuse for these CC's, I don't want to leave that kind of impression because I am not. My point to all of this without going into major details is last year I was dealing with and taking care of my mother who was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I didn't have much time to place anything on my webpages and even after her passing I found it very hard to get back into the swing of things, but I always responded to e-mail and I did try to get something on-line when time permitted. What I meant to be saying in my last letter and I guess it didn't come out correctly, was that I feel you have done all you can do, if you have made several attempts to contact and even listed dates for reply, then it is my opinion they simply don't want to be involved anymore and you have been as fair as anyone can be. It's time to place the county for adoption then in my opinion. I hope this came out making more sense now, <g> Debie Blindauer Calumet & Sheboygan Counties
Tina, It is my opinion only here. If you have tried and tried to contact the CC and haven't heard back from them and nothing has been done with their website in a while, then I feel they have given up on being a CC and we should then find a CC who would be willing to accept the county. In the past, I have had to go for several weeks without showing any activity on my website, due to personal responsibilities, but no matter how crazy my life has been, I have always made sure I downloaded mail at least once a week and checked for things that needed to be answered and couldn't wait. I realize not everyone does the same thing I do, but perhaps if something is happening in a CC's life that is making it to crazy for them to put the time into their county, maybe it would help to relieve the stress of dealing with it until a time comes when they would be able to handle it again. Does that make sense? I guess as a long shot you could perhaps try one final e-mail with something in the header stating a response needed by and then list a date and tell them if you don't get a reply, you will be forced to place their county up for adoption. I know that would do it for me, but then again I would have responded after the first attempt. I would also like to toss a warning message to all my fellow CC's. I have received two e-mails today from a Nancy B. These messages had an attachment that was an infected virus. The e-mails appear to be a photo she is willing to share with others for the county page, but McAfee caught them both as a infected worm virus. The attachment is called AnnaKournikova.jpg.vbs I have tried to write to this person thinking perhaps she had no idea, the e-mail bounced back to me. Have a great week, Debie Blindauer Calumet & Sheboygan County
Hi everyone, It is with regret that I announce the resignation of Bob Herald as County Coordinator of Clark County. Bob has served the WIGenWeb Project well. This has been demonstrated not only with the Clark County pages, but also by his involvement with contributors, visitors and co-workers alike. He will be missed! I have placed an "Adopt Me" link on the County Coordinators page, and look forward to working with Bob during the transition to a new host, I have encouraged his continued participation in not only Clark County, but that of the WIGenWeb Project. Please join me in wishing Bob well with his future endeavors. Tina
Frank & Michelle, The Kenosha site looks great--and welcome as the new co-ordinators! A husband & wife team--cool! I wish I could talk mine into it! <G> But then maybe not, as this is "my escape"!!! Best of luck, Anne Florence WI CC

Hi! Cleaning out my inbox this evening... Columbia County web site links work, e-mail links need to be changed to takhome@qwest.net. The takhome@uswest.net address will work until March 2002. I can receive the uswest addressed mail but I can't send from it. If you could delete it from the mailing list I'd appreciate it, as it is I've been getting two of everything for a while. (Just too busy to complain :-) New at the site is a photo album (very popular) and a marriage index and just today someone volunteered to transcribe the records for a very large cemetery in Columbus! take care! First and foremost, Bob, Clark county looks tremendous... Now, why don't I have any ancestors there??? GRIN. The frames are great. I, too, tried going to them, but had some concerns that not all browsers supported them (actually I gave up cause is was TOO hard to figure out for my poor little pea brain - grin)... Has anyone mentioned this? I see sites that say click here for frames, and here for non-frames, let me guess, they have 2 sets of pages??? YIKES. SO, I used tables instead. Please email me separate if you want to share info... Tina, Thanks for bearing with me on that blank email... I always looked at WoodCoWI as a German community and StPoint as the Polish community when growing up, but since working with surnames, it seems there was a mixture in the WoodCoWI area... Perhaps pockets within cities. This is something that I will explore. Hi all, Iowa County ethnicity: 1. Cornish 2. Cornish 3. Cornish 4. Norwegian 5. Irish 6. German Dane County ethnicity: I can't think of any group that has not been represented in Dane County. Perhaps not Cornish, maybe more English here (there is a difference). Well, that's what I come up with off the top of my head at least. Thanks! Please join me in welcoming Michelle and Frank Laylock as the Kenosha County Coordinators! I am not certain, but I think this is the *first* husband and wife team, to join our team! Welcome Michelle and Frank! I have updated the email address on the County Coordinator page http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigenweb/counties.html to reflect Michelle and Frank's address, and added them here with all of us. They will be working with Jackie to transition the Kenosha pages. Jackie, again thank you for your work with Kenosha over the years, the county has certainly been served well! So happy that you are remaining as Juneau County host. Tina
