So far I have only changed addresses when someone notified my that their address had changed, and have not tried to check addresses to make sure they were current. 2. Carolyn Caflisch
    3. Caflisch Responds [email protected] I use CCHelper to build my queries. Yearly I pull all of the query email addresses and send emails out to everyone telling them that any emails that bounce, associated queries will be removed. I do that and found that those people that change emails and want their queries to remain useful do let me know when they have changed providers. I have also started at the same time to remove older queries. I tell those that have queries older than 3 years will be removed on a certain date and ask they resubmit their queries. I got this idea from another coordinator. He felt that in three years usually some of the information had been received and queries if needed should be resubmitted. End of Caflisch Response > > How do people handle out of date email addresses on their surname or query > pages? 3. Clare- I no longer have the query pages or surname list on the actual web pages I use the Rootsweb messgae boards for that - but in the beginning when I had them on the Waupaca site, I also felt it was up to the submitter to notify me to change it etc and that is how I handle it today for the other pages that I have submitter emails on. 3. I don't do anything about the out of date email addresses unless someone contacts me and asks me to change them. I figure if they want to be contacted, it is their responsibility to let me know of email address changes on their own. I don't want to take an email address off of the site - or anything else - that has been submitted (and I don't have the time to "baby-sit" the email addresses by trying them to find out if they are still good) Just my opinion, if anyone has a better idea, please share to the list. 1. [WIGEN-L] my county website' [reply to Traci]
    2. Hi Traci, I currently have webpages at No Monthly Fees. I have 2 other friends using the same. We had an initial fee of 200$ and then $70 per year and were offered a second domain at 100$ [later on]! Tons of features - more than I will ever know how to use. They updated not long ago with more space then I will ever use! unfortunately. Rootsweb did wonders for genealogy and deserve more than a rousing cheer of hand clapping. But there are other good places out there too. Now.. I would love t o visit you county site but woud appreciate the URL .. hehe.. thanks. smiles to you Brenda K. 3. Well, the story is this. I received the note I forwarded here from Linda. I visited the page(s), to find just an index page. (The directory contained no other pages). I wrote to Linda and David and David's email bounced. I heard from Linda, but in the meantime went to work to get the pages back up. Linda resigned and in doing so felt she wanted to give David a "clean slate" to work with, which was why she took the pages down. I will work with Linda to put back on line contributor information. Without the ability to contact David, I went ahead and put pages up, and placed the county up for adoption. If I should hear from David, we can take it from there. 1. [WIGEN-L] my county website
    2. Tracy Reinhardt
    3. I have been diligently working on my website for the past two weeks, as my little 'new years resolution' and as a personal 'thank you' to rootsweb etc. (whew! it's done) I have over 2000 links on my pages for Fond du Lac county, and have worked to be sure that every link was working, and that I have no orphan pages taking up space unnecessarily. (and I got to review pages that I forgot were there! Oh my goodness) I also did some checking on local prices for website hosting, and have discovered that my website (all 125MG) would be costing me $75 per month, if I used a local service to host it. So every single month, for the past years, I have been receiving a gift worth $75 from rootsweb and now Ancestry. I am happy to say that there are less than 10 links that are causing problems when I check my site, and most of them are sites that take too long to load, and time-out the program I use, rather than being a link that is not working. So a public THANK YOU to rootsweb and ancestry, for providing the genealogists researching Fond du Lac county, ample space to see research material. Tracy Reinhardt :-)

    3. Hi all, WIGenWeb Project Washington County is back on line. My thanks to Jan Cortez for the material she provided and to Bob Franks for the graphic he created. The site has not moved and remains at http://www.rootsweb.com/~wiwashin/ As I shared with you all yesterday, the Co-County Coordinator of Washington County WIGenWeb Project resigned. That is all well and good, but in doing so, all the resources to the county that she and others contributed were removed. This is *not* the way a resignation of a County Coordinator should occur within the WIGenWeb Project. It is a tremendous disservice to our visitors. The material that each of you as individuals submit to your county sites is indeed yours to do with what you wish, but the *materials that are submitted by contributors to the WIGenWeb Project County sites are not yours to remove *upon your resignation from your position of County Coordinator*. As your State Coordinator, I ask that if you wish to resign your County site that you contact me and that we work together to transition the site to a new County Coordinator. This process will assure the WIGenWeb County site remains online to our visitors and also protects the integrity of the WIGenWeb Project/USGenWeb Project mission and goals. Tina
