    3. Thanks Joan, that is an interesting one, but not like the one we used which had a URL http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/StrayObits It had the actual obit information for searching and I was wondering if it has been dropped or had a new address. Was very helpful and interesting. Sorry, guess I should have put the old address up even though it does not work. 3. Rita - send them to Tina - they are under the WI Archives at: ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/wi/obits I don't know where the link to them is though - however, researchers can access the files by typing in the surname in the WI Archives search engine. Sorry it isn't the best answer. Tina - I didn't really look too hard for a link - I thought it should be on the WI Archives State Files page. 2. MAK - Transcriber
    3. A few people have asked me if I get advanced warning on rootsweb outages - no, I don't. Wouldn't that be nice (grin)... I do notice, however, that they go down routinely between the hours of midnight and one PST for short periods of time - probably doing scheduled servincing, kinda like when we are FTPing our stuff to the server. However, when something seems wrong with rootsweb - you can normally go to the HELP desk and there is a notice letting you know what is happening. Or what has been happening... To check to see if they have an advisory posted, go to: http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/help.cgi Just click on the URL, then bookmark it for when you need to check the status - Hope this helps. 3. Sounds like a plan to me Tim. I often hear from people that an email is dead, and am not sure whether to delete the item or what. I usually leave them, unless they are lookups, which I remove, but, people write and ask for updated emails, which I don't have. I usually tell them that if the person contacts me, I'll get the new email up right away. 3. Aw shucks - just doing my little part to assist others. Now off to plan for 2004. Some of the planning is now done, the implementation about to start after changing out a computer or two. It's setting up the modems though that brings the biggest challenge. I've just found another resource of material for Wisconsin from about 1875, so will be exploring that shortly.
