[Robert Gilbert] Thanks for sending your research summary to the Fond du Lac list; you have accomplished so much. Just wondering if you have checked the Loiselle Marriage Index and its Supplement, to see which Québec locations had clusters of COMTOIS? Chance there may have been GILBERT/GUILBERT in Québec also. The Hales Corners WI LDS Library has the full set of microfilms of the Loiselle & Sup, alphabetical, easy to figure out. The FCGW [French Canadian/Acadian Genealogists of Wisconsin] does offer an inexpensive look-up service for a Loiselle marriage. If you explain your problem, it probably would be the same to have them tell you which villages and range of dates the Comtois marriages occurred in. See their website: <http://www.fcgw.org/> Once you find locations, index books called répertoires exist for fuller records, with parents' names, for marriages in a given location, and there are also some for baptisms and burials. Just depends on whether some individual has done one for that location. The WI Historical Society Library probably has the largest collection of Canadiana in the US, including many répertoires. Just go to their online catalog, select either search, and type out "mariages" in a title: <http://madcat.library.wisc.edu/index.html> Any other questions, feel free to ask. Bonne chance, Barb Glassel
