Powers, who died at 6 o'clock Saturday night as a result of ten days' illness with pneumonia. Mrs. Powers was formerly Miss Clara Maxfield of Oakfield, and is a bride of less than eight months. Mrs. Powers was stricken with what was seemingly a severe cold last Wednesday. At no time, until a few hours before death, was her condition serious. She did not seem to be critically ill being able to sit up during the day. Pneumonia developed and death was the result. News of Mrs. Powers' death was learned yesterday at Oakfield and genuine sorrow prevailed at what appeared to be almost impossible news. She was born in Oakfield December 2, 1886, and resided there all of her life until her marriage on June 4, 1919, where she came to this city to live. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Maxfield of Oakfield, and much beloved in that community. She leav! es here parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Maxfield of Oakfield; one sister, Mrs. Winifred Ball, Oakfield, and one brother, Edward Maxfield, of Northern Wisconsin. Services were held at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the residence, 20 N. Butler street, Rev. W.S. Stewart officiated. The body was sent to Oakfield where funeral services were conducted this afternoon. Another sad fact concerning the death of the young woman, is the fact that her husband, who has been confined to his bed for a week, was unable to attend the funeral.
