My grandmother on my Dad's side - Ermina (Sabel) Kempf lived in WI her entire life. Her mother was Mary Katherine Schmitz (b. 5/27/1861 in Johnsburg) whose parents were Gertrude Lauby and Servatius Schmitz. It appears Servatius was born in 1827 in Germany, but have no information whatsoever on Gertrude Lauby. Do you think there is a connection? Feel free to email me at [email protected] Thanks.
