Your name came up in association with my followup on relatives of mine in FDL name Beaudreous, or thereabouts. I'm assuming you are the same Ron Friedel, who is the son of Norbert and who has brothers Richard and John and a sister (Julie, I think), and who lived at approximately 15 W. Bank St., in FDL. If so, I am the same Richard Lyneis who lived near you. After having a 10-year newspaper career in Appleton, I left there on a Ford Foundation Fellowship to Stanford, and eventually stayed in California where I became city editor of the Riverside Press-Enterprise, and eventually I got into fulltime investigative reporting. That led me to a better position with the Albuquerque Journal in 1986, and I retired from that newspaper in 1998. I've been married to Mary Kay, nee Mary Catherine Effinger, of Milwaukee, for 41 years, and we had three children, Susan Sirias, Lynn Pedroza, and Paul, who died of cancer in 1995. We now live in Angels Camp, Ca., a small town in California's Sierra foothills, in the heart of what is known as "Gold Country."
