He had been in poor health for several years but suffered intensely since March 15, being confined to his bed since that time. He was born in Brown county, Wisconsin, May 2, 1870, and moved with h is parents to Nebraska, September 13, 1883. He was educated there and attended high school. He was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Mae Keehler (note: correct spelling is Elizabeth May Kuehler), in Fillmore county, Nebraska, July 11, 1900. They lived on a farm there for a number of y ears, coming to Henry county in 1914 where they lived on a farm belonging to his mother, the late Mrs. Paryzad Doty, for six years. They then moved to a farm one-half mile south of Thrush. They came to Clinton in 1922 and the daughters bought a home on the corner of Lincoln and Fifth streets where they still reside. Thirteen children were give! n to this union. Twelve of them are left to comfort their mother, as follows: Mrs. Walter Hawkins, east of Clinton; Lewis Oryall, north of Clinton; Mrs. Frank Johns, West Allen street, Clinton; Edgar, Clifford, Nelson, Keith, and Barbara Pauline also live in Clinton. There are eight grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. George VanPatten, of Brownington, and Miss Viola Oryall, San Francisco, Calif. Deceased had been a Knight of Pythias and also belonged to Royal Hollanders when he resided in Nebraska. He was of French descent and liked the out of doors and always raised an excellent garden. Rev. Brythe, pastor of the Baptist Church, where the daughters belong, conducted the funeral services at his late home Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The burial was in Englewood cemetery by the side of his mother.
