I do see her in many census records but nothing about her birth family. Except for the 1880 census, which says Rosa's father had been born in Maine, all the other census entries for Rosa & George (1900-1930) say that Rosa's father had been born, like Rosa, in New York and her mother in England. Rosa most likely died in California sometime between 1930 and 1940. She was there (in Chico, Butte Co., CA) in the 1930 census, living with daughter Hattie Phippin Whitcomb (Mrs. Reuben Edw. Whitcomb). And Rosa is not in the California death records for 1940 onward, so presumably she died between those years. Rosa (Rosey) and George sure moved around a lot, didn't they! 1880 in Fond du Lac; 1900 in Bristol, Fillmore Co., MN; 1910 in Fannin Co., TX; 1920 in Oak Dale, Howard Co., IA; and then Rosey with Hattie in Chico, CA in 1930 when Rosey was a widow. I'm guessing that George died in Iowa in the 1920's before Rosey moved on to CA. The following entry in the Iowa Cemetery Records could, I suppose, be his: George A. Phippin b. 1853 d. 1924 buried Burr Oak Cemetery (records of Winneshiek County) Wish I'd found more for you, Brianna, about your Rosa's family. Perhaps one of the other Abbotts who married in Fond du Lac county (WI) around the time that Rosey did would be a sibling or other relative of hers. Wisc.
