Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/jEC.2ACE/1961.1.1.1.2.1 Message Board Post: Hi Tracy, I'm afraid I've done very little research on the Mahoney line. Patrick and Mary Kinney came to Wi sometime around 1858-1859. They appear in the 1860 census in Fond du Lac, WI with children: John age 7, Ellen age 4, Margaret age 2 and Mary age 2 months. All the children except Mary where born in NY. Mary was born in Wis. Patrick and Mary lived close to Andrew, John and James Kinney, but I haven't been able to define their relationship, so I don't know if they were brothers, cousins or actually related at all. Patrick and Mary appear in the 1870 census in FDL, WI as 'Kinny' with their 4 children. I don't know when Patrick and Mary came to America or if they were married before immigrating or if they married after immigration. They lived in NY for a period of time and eventually settled in Wi. Both were born in Ireland and I am trying to find when they immigrated and where they came from. It sounds as if you live near FDL-I live in Appleton and try to get to FDL every couple of months to do some research at the register of deeds or the library, so I hope to get down there soon. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/jEC.2ACE/1961.1.1.1.2 Message Board Post: I have a Patrick Kinney, b. ca. 1818 according to the 1880 census for Fond du Lac, whom I found with his wife Mary age 49, and daughter Mary age 19. Mary (b. 1827) states that she was the mother of 4, and 3 were still living. Do not know the names of this Patrick's other children, but living right next door to them is a John Kinney, on Liberty Street in Fond du Lac. Mary Kinney (b. 1865/1861) married Timothy Mahoney in 1894, and in her marriage record she indicates that her mother's maiden name was Leahy. The 1900 census shows Tim and Mary Mahoney with Tim's mother-in-law Mary Kinney residing with them, so Patrick must have died.. In Calvary Cemetery there is buried in Section 2 Patrick Kinney, born March 17, 1820, died July 1, 1891 Mary Kinney, born Feb 2, 1827, died Nov 15, 1901 In 1910 Timothy and Mary Kinney Mahoney have a daughter Irene in their household, but later references are only to an adopted daughter named Helen, and so we are not sure if this is the same, or two different daughters. We are also unsure if this was Tim Mahoney's first or second marriage. My question is this - where is Patrick in 1860 and 1870 census? When did the Kinney line come to Fond du Lac. Also, Tim Mahoney moved to Philadelphia PA, to be near his daughter Helen Mahoney Kilner. Since I am pursuing the Mahoney line, and I know the area that they resided in, and am curious about their origins. Anything I can look up for you in the Fond du Lac library? tracy reinhardt

I don't know where I got this info, nor do I know whether it's correct--I'll have to search through my records. I know John was the son of John (1819) and Julia Kinney, but I know little beyond that. I was wondering if you know whether John, Sr had any brothers. I've been trying to find out if he was related to Patrick (1820), James (1822) or Andrew (1824)Kinney. They lived very close to each other in the 1860 census, so I assume they must be related, somehow. Jeanne
