Just found this photo and thought maybe someone would like a copy of it. I knew of them as Petter and Geht Fiebig. The back of the phots says Petter and Geht and Alex Fiebig. They lived next door to my grandparents on Cotton St in Fond du Lac, I think. My grandparents were Justine and Henry Gillig. They were from Grimm, Russia. If your email address is correct on this forum I will email you a copy of this photo. Did you know them? Jo Hamilton

    1. Re: [WIFONDDU] Parents of Alex Balthazor and Josephine Guyette?
    2. Robert W. Shirey
    3. >Rob, This should get you started. Tom, I have come to very much appreciate the info you sent. It has helped me piece together a lot of other fragments, *especially* the record of the 3 Aug 1904 marriage of Jean Baptiste Balthazar and Josephine Desmarais. That helped me disambiguate the two different Jean Baptiste Baltazors that lived in the Town of Eldorado. Please tell me, did you get those marriages from the records of St. Louis Church, or are they from Fond du Lac County records? I am guessing the former, because the county would not have recorded "vf" and "ve", veuf and veuve, widower and widow. Perhaps we can exchange some more.Give me this weekend to finish some cleanup, and then I send my what I have assembled for the Balthazors. I'll also tell what I am doing. As you will learn, the French Catholic settlers in Fond du Lac are not my core interest. Instead, I am interested in all the families that lived in the West Scott Street neighborhood of Fond du Lac, especially the roughly 3-by-8-block section from Hwy 45 to Hwy 175, and from Sibley Street to the marsh. That was mostly German. However, there were some F-Cs in there, too, especially early in the city's history, and that has led to me scooping up lots of data related to them. In the database that centers on West Scott, I have over 17,000 souls.. I see from the Web that you live in Fond du Lac, 920) 922-9475. I was born and raised there, a couple block from "the French church". Regards, -Rob- Robert W. Shirey, 3516 N. 1. [WIFONDDU] immigration records
    2. Ancestry.com has extended the free search of the Immigration Records through the end of December, so you have another month to check out the collection and find some of those lost ancestors. I was surprised that they had ships that sailed into Sturgeon Bay, Sheboygan, Green Bay and Marinette (as well as, New York, Baltimore, etc.) This is one of those really free no credit card promotions (not like a free trial). You just need to give them your name and email (and no credit card) and you can start searching the entire immigration collection. Here's a link to the promotion and more details. In the same obit I have noted the date as October 24, 1948. Her parents were Louis/Lewis and Mary Clish Lepine. She was born Feb 9, 1907 in Fond du Lac. Her sister, Lucille, did marry George Ziegler in 1929. However, note that Edwin and George were NOT siblings. Are you the Robert who married Mary Ziegler? If so, please contact me.
