    1. [WIFONDDU] Matilda Corbeille (and daughter Lena): Who was husband?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: rshirey2 Surnames: Corbeille Corbelle Corbell Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.fonddulac/4038/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The 1880 U.S. census transcription at www.familysearch.com has a household in the Town of Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac Co., WI, with two people: head of household Matilda Corbelle [sic] age 40 (implies born about 1840) and her daughter Lena Corbelle age 19 (implies born about 1861). The transcription gives Matilda's Marital status as "M", i.e., married, rather that "W", so maybe her husband was alive. It's possible that Joseph was logging or trapping or such, living elewhere in Wisconsin or Minnesota, when the census was taken. Presently, my database lists only two Corbeille men who lived in Fond du Lac Co. and had wives named Mathilda. One is Everiste (1857-1917), but his wife was born 1857. The other is Joseph (1833 - 22 Jan 1894), who is buried in St. Charles Cemetery. His wife, also buried there, is "Corbeille, Mathilde Croux, w/o Jos. Corbeille, d. 18 Apr 1892, ae 59 yrs", which implies a birth year of about 1833. It's possible that the Matilda in the census is the one buried at St. Charles. However, I don't have any other information about that couple buried at St. Charles; it would help if someone knew the names of their children, if any. I am trying to track down the ancestors of John H. Kennedy (b. Dec 1874 according to the 1900 census), who married Margaret Ferguson about 1905 in Fond du Lac County. There is a John the right age shown in the 1880 and 1900 censuses as the son of Daniel Kennedy and his wife Catherine or Kate. I thought this might be the same Daniel and Kate Fitzepatrick you mentioned in your posting from several years ago. Do you happen to know who Dan and Kate's son John married? And did you ever discover more about Catherine Fitzpatrick? --Beth Yockey of Madison, WI Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. listers, Thanks to the generosity of Jack Copet, you can find a scanned image of the entire 1912 Souvenir Album, Old settlers and Home Comers of Fond du lac, by Franklin Swett, published in 1912. This is a great "photo album" of the early pioneers, as well as brief biographies. the link to this booklet can be found on: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wifonddu/resources/histories.html tracy reinhardt
