Also - where was basic training for someone who was in the Army Air Force ( as it was known then)? My husband's uncle, Howard J CONNERS, son of J. B. and Ellen CONNERS of S. Main Street, was a SSG whose plane was shot down over Italy - remains never recovered. We do not know what unit he was in. We would like to find out a little more about him. Were there possibly mentions in the newspaper regarding those MIA ? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. His wife's name was Abigail and she was from Thompkins County, New York. Peter had served in the War of 1812. Philancy married a Beardsley, though I am not quite sure his first name. Her sister, Angeline B. Smith married Dr. R.W. Middaugh (Richard). The doctor and his wife had a daughter named Angeline, who married Ira Wilcox. Ira was the son of Seymour Willcox and Lucy Newton, original founders of Waupun, Wisconsin. Seymour and Lucy are my ggg-grandparents. Ira's brother, Thurston Wilcox, married a woman by the name of Clara C. Beardsley (b. 1834 in New York). Clara's parents were Hiram Beardsley (b. Connecticut) and Lydia Knapp (b. New York). Perhaps your R. F. Beardsley and Clara were siblings??? I recently found that my ancestors, Joseph and Mary Mullen, built an original log-cabin school house on their property at Mullen Drive and Highway 28 prior to 1861. Does anyone have any info on this or direct me to a source? Searching for Mullens of Fond du Lac and Clarks of Washington County. Thanks Listers. Maura McCormick, Cleveland, OH

Dear Genealogists, One of the most used reference books about the Badger State, the /Wisconsin Blue Book/ is a compilation of facts and figures pertaining to the government, people, industry, lifestyle and history of the State of Wisconsin. Now, this important and endlessly interesting series is available online at *http://digital.library.wisc.edu/1711.dl/WI.WIBlueBks*. The University of Wisconsin Digital Collections Center has digitized 85 volumes that span the years 1853-2003 and total over 56,000 pages. The Blue Book is a useful resource for any number of researchers---those that are interested in learning more about elective offices and officials, genealogists looking for biographical information about politicians and office holders, as well as scholars researching Wisconsin's history, economy, or government. Citizens and State employees alike can find key statistics and data about communities throughout Wisconsin. Not only is the /Wisconsin Blue Book/ online and freely accessible, it is fully searchable. You can search all /Blue Books/ or a single volume. Volumes are arranged chronologically for easy browsing as well. Blue Books from 1995-present are available online as PDF files through the Wisconsin Legislative Bureau at http://www.legis.state.wi.us/lrb/bb/index.htm We hope that you enjoy this resource and find it helpful. Now, I did not know that about Rosey being in CA. with her not being in any census records before her marriage, could it be that she might be listed under an alternate name (could Rosa be her middle name?). I do know that Rosey's last name was Abbott when she married George Phippen, Jr. Whether she was married before him... I haven't a clue.
