THANK YOU so very much for the fabulous information ! It was especially great that my husband's uncle's unit was listed. This helped me find out more information. You are so very kind to have taken the time to reply !!! I had to go in the hospital unexpectedly and haven't been able to reply until now. I appreciate it so very much. I was interested that he had to go to Milwaukee to enlist - I had thought that perhaps there was a local enlistment office. I would still like to find out if perhaps the local newspaper carried items/notices regarding those killed or MIA. I have seen the telegram informing Howard's mother that he was MIA - from the War Department. Deb , thank you again so very much ! I would be happy to do a little seraching for Howard. I do know that the "Army Air Corps" trained in many different locations all over the US. My father-in-law trained in central Texas. Many small towns were near or grew out of the establishment of a military base nearby. There was a small base near Brownwood, TX and many others in that region. I will start looking tomorrow as I live in FDL and I have the time and I am a retired Army Officer who loves history and I have things from both my father and f-in-l from WW II. If you have any more info on him please send it to me, that will help.
