    1. [WIFONDDU] Very large, new database for Fond du Lac's West Scott Street Neighborhood
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: rshirey2 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wisconsin.counties.fonddulac/4073/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have posted a new database, currently containing 21,691 people, to http://wc.rootsweb.com/. (Go to that web site and type "westscottstreet" in the second "Go" box.) The database is centered on immigrant families that settled in the West Scott Street neighborhood of the city of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, particularly families of Germanic origin; but also contains many other families that are connected in various ways to those core families. Those core Germanic families immigrated mainly from Kreis Rosenberg and Kreis Marienwerder in Westpreussen (West Prussia) between 1880 and 1900, and the database traces many of them back to the early-19th century, and some back to the mid-18th century, using Prussian church records. For most of those families, little or no data has been posted before. The database also provides or consolidates data for families that attended St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church (eventually, I will be posting all vitals for St. Peter's before about 1893) and St. Louis Catholic Church, including many French-Canadian families that settled in Fond du Lac in the mid-19th century and then moved on to Minnesota or elsewhere later before 1900. I have identified my sources in detail (giving document page #s, LDS microfilm #s, etc.) so that interested parties can pursue further research. Do you have additions or corrections for this database? If so, please email them to me. I will be regularly adding to and updating the posted database.
