The son of Henry Jaffke (1850?-1910?) of Prussia and Caroline? of we believe Germany. They met and married in FonduLac in the mid 1880's. Children:.Henry, Herman, Minnie, Paul and Matie. Paul Jaffke marrried May McDermott(1887-1933) in 1908 in FdL. May was the daughter of George McDermott of FdL(1860?-1915) and Agnes(Anna?) Wood(s) (1865-1890) who died in FdL. Paul and May's children were Don, Bob, Richard, Dorothy, Mary and Gale. I thought Jaffke would be fairly easy to locate, but I have had little luck. I would appreciate any clues.

Surnames: Lesselyoung, Schumacher, Heinrich Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/jEC.2ACE/1293 Message Board Post: In response to several recent queries on the FdL rootsweb mailing list and the Lesselyoung surname forum on ancesty.com seeking information on the Lesselyoung family. I "accidentally" stumbled across this unique surname while researching another Fond du Lac Co. family back through the records of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Sheldon, Wyoming Co., New York. (FHL microfilm 1292997). I was surprised to see there several name combinations found in FdL, primarily around Dotyville. The Sheldon records, a very small microfilm, contain an early family book of some families settled before about 1848 and the more usual bapt, marr. & death registers starting about 1849. I noted the following marriages: 9 Apr 1850 - Johann Nicolaus Heinrich/Henry (son of Johann Nicolaus Heinrich & Susanna Andrae) & Maria Lesseljung 8 Oct 1850 - Peter Lesseljung & Anna Maria Hawler 6 Jan 1851 - Peter Schumacher (Johann Schumacher & Johanna Andrae) & Anna Maria Lesseljung 6 Apr 1854 - Nicolaus Molitor (no parents in my notes) & Magdalena Lesseljung There are probably more marriages (and baptisms) there for eventual Fond du Lac families that I missed. All of the above Lesselyoung (Lesseljung) were children of Peter/Pierre Lesselyoung and Elisabeth Schlim. The Sheldon family book gives fantastic detail on this family. Pierre was born in Hautcharage, Luxembourg, son of Jean Lesseljung and Maria Weiss (not verified). He married Elisabeth Shlim 11 Apr 1826 in Dippach, Capellen, Luxembourg. I verified the marriage and the births of some of their children in the village of Schouweiler, which was within the civil registration area of Dippach. A few of their younger children were born in Sheldon NY beginning in 1845. I believe almost all the Lesselyoungs in FdL Co. are descended from Peter, but there are at least two other branches in Wis. (Outagamie Co. for one) not descended from Peter, but probably related. Another Sheldon family book entry which sheds light on the above families is that of Nicolaus Henry or Heinrich (son of Nicolaus Heinrich & Susanna Andrae) & Maria Schumacher (dau of Jean Schumacher and Jeanette [Johanna] Andrae). This record shows him to have been born in Messancy, Luxembourg, Belgium. She was born in Longeau (nearby - same registry office). I did verify their marriage in 1841 (forgot exact date) in the records of of Messancy. Although Dippach, Capellen, Luxembourg and Messancy, Luxembourg, Belgium are now in two different countries, I think these 2 places are less than 10 miles apart. Civil registration records (vary between French and German) from both places are on FHL microfilm.
