Stephen and Anna Catherine (FREIN) FREUND's daughter Catherine FREUND married Johann Peter FREUND. Two of their children are direct ancestors fo mine. Johann and Catherine's son, John Peter FREUND (1818 - 1882) married Katherine KUGEL (1821 - 1895). Their daughter Anna Marie FREUND (1845 - 1926) married Peter Joseph KOENIGS(1838 - 1921). Their son John KOENIGS(1868 - 1958) married Rose ABLER (who incidentally is also a descendent of the Stephen FREUND and Anna Katherine FREIN). John and Rose's daughter Angela KOENIGS married Norbert STEPHANIE and are my mother's parents. Johann and Catherine FREUND's daughter, Marie FREUND (1820 - 1884) married a Johann SABEL (1812 - 1890). Their son Joseph SABEL (1857 - 1943) married Mary Katherine SCHMITZ (1861 - 1949). Their daughter, Ermina Mary SABEL married Remigius (Ray) Kempf. Ermina and Ray are my dad's parents. I have more specific dates and locations for these people, but did not know what you had and what you were looking for. Let me know if this is helpful and would like more. Greetings all, I have received several different emails over the past two years, asking about the origins of Taycheedah prison, and what it was before it became part of the state prison system. Most people seem to think, based on their family tradition, that it was a home for unwed mothers. I am interested in hearing from anyone who can shed some light on the early history of Taycheedah prison site, and how this particular farm evolved into the prison. Anyone who has any information, speculation, oral family histories, or family "inmates", I would love to know what you have, to help me piece together a history of Taycheedah for the website. I have discovered that in 1920, the census lists "Industrial Home for Women" located in the township of Taycheedah, and this is the forerunner of the prison. The 1920 census only lists the caretaker and his family, with no inmates yet. I am told that the Industrial Home for Women wasn't opened until 1921. But, the website on Taycheedah prision indicates that the Industrial home was for women who "committed crimes against morality". Is this a rough way of calling it a home for unwed mothers??????? Can anyone else shed information on the early formation of Taycheedah. The local history books seem to avoid the subject. Has anyone heard that the site was also a stone quarry in 1900? Tracy
Once in a while I stumble across a website that is worth the visit. Here is such a site: http://www.library.wisc.edu/etext/WIReader/WER0127-1.html The story on this website, was taken from an early issue of Wisconsin Magazine of History, and it details the travels in 1843 from Milwaukee to Green Bay, including a stop and description of early Fond du Lac and Taycheedah. About a year ago I was Visiting with Madelyn who is now Bud's ex-wife. She said that Bud moved in with a son out in Texas. Is this the same family? Which of Harold's children are you a daughter of? There is a large group of researchers working on the Gotchy/Gauthier family lines. Probably more information than you will be able to digest in one, two or three sittings. If you are interested, I'll get you hooked up with them. They have not been real active lately but the archives on the site are extensive. Skip

I would venture to say that the cemetery you probably are looking for is the Reformed Cemetery in section 17, of Auburn township. This cemetery is located just 1/2 mile east of the present village of Campbellsport. Tracy
I found the death registration for a family member who died in 1895 in Auburn, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Registration listed burial in "Cemetery of the Dutch Reformed Church." Does anyone know where that was?
