(circa 1909). The one who signed my father's baptismal certificate was not assigned either to our local church (St.Paul's of Calumet Twp, Fond du Lac Co, WI) or to neighboring New Holstein (Calumet Co)which on occasion in the past shared ministers.

It is unfortunate that Adolph Kommer came from Germany. I am looking for a Dutch Kommer family but since I have no idea where they settled (they came to the US in 1848), it's like looking for a needle in a heystack. Thanks again, Paula
Hi, I'm new to this list & was wondering if anyone that belongs to it knows or has any Shay's in their family. I'm searching for Joseph & Mary Shay & their children John W., William & Henry. There are two or three females, but I don't know their names. There's a few Joseph's from Fon Du Lac in the 1860 & 1870 Census & so thought there might be someone out there who may have some information on them. Thanks for any help I can get, Val

If so the phone book could help. I'm in Milwaukee, but my folks still are up there so maybe I could try also. Good Hunting...and lots of luck to you. Ron

No I haven't contacted any descendents yet-that will be on my list of hundreds of leads to pursue!!! It's hard to find descendents after the 1920 censuses. Those are the latest on-line. And if you do find addresses, in this day and age with high suspicions (I myself am leery!) of snail mail (older people are less likely to have computers) it's hard to get responses to legitimate inquiries. I'll let you know if I find anything further....Deb

As you stated this makes all the records fit, so I am sure this is it. I wish I knew more about the the butchering accident that could explain things further. I do wonder if only one child died in that accident and the other just happened to die about the same time of some other cause. Like you, I question the age of 6 months being connected to a buthchering incident in any way; just don't seem to make sense. Have you every been able to contact any grandchildren?; there could realistically be some living yet. With that many children you would think some decendants still would be in that area. Thanks for sharing the info I will now need to update that part of my records to sort that out. If I can be of some help let me know. Ron

Wruck in the 1900 City of Oshkosh census which matches up with my Emma. Her birthdate is listed as Jan. 1880, which is in line with all the other Wruck children. We had wondered why she wasn't in the 1900 census with the rest of the family and thought that she might be the Emma who was scalded. I don't think so. This Emma was a servant, b. Jan. 1880, single, 20 years old, born in WI. Lived at 31 S. Main St., Oshkosh, ED 134, Ward 3. It all fits. That would leave Emily to be the only logical one who was scalded. What do you think?
