My Hubbards came over from Lincolnshire England about 1850, spent some time in New York state--possibly with "American" Hubbards and then spread out to Vernon (Jonas Hubbard), Monroe (William Hubbard) and Walworth(George and maybe John Hubbard) in mid 1850's. Any connections that anyone knows of with Hugh Hubbard family and "my" Hubbards? Also any one know of a Romain Hubbard???? Thanks Nel

Margaretha's mother's name was Gerhartz. It seems there's an error on the tombstone, but it seems that the spelling of family names didn't mean a lot then. If you want to know more, I'll be happy to share.

She had married Benjamin Nightengale in Calumet County ca. 1850 and later moved to Fond du Lac where Benjamin belived to have prospered in the lumber business. By any chance do you have any details on this Nightengale family? I'm told they had several children but only one known to me is Newell Nightengale born Calumet county 6 Dec. 1853 & died in MO in 1934. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you, Gordon Wood [email protected]

FYI There is a large collection of French Canadian information at the Minnesota Genealogical Society Library. Web site: http://www.mtn.org/mgs/index.html Also has anyone thought about the town Durand in western Wisconsin. The party in question might have a connection to that town. Bergetta

Somewhere I've seen the hyphenated name Durand-Ruelle, is that the museum in France? Where is Doeuil-sur-le-Mignon? There must be some interesting stories about Jean Durand and his wife, as well as their descendants. Hope you will send in some more of your Durand, Paquette, Boswell family's history to the FDL list, maybe with a few pictures it would be a good attachment to the FDL Co Website? Tracy would find just the right spot for it! Another group that would surely be interested is the FCGW [French Canadian/ Acadian Genealogists of Wisconsin]. The editor of the group's excellent Quarterly, Joyce Banachowski, is very knowledgeable and helpful. You can reach her through the website: <http://www.fcgw.org/> Thanks, Tom & Barb G

Briggs born in 1860, probably in Fond du Lac County, WI., a James Eugene (no birthdate or birthplace) and an Arthur Adams Briggs born 11 Dec 1882 in O'Neil Co. Nebraska. I don't think any of these correspond to your Arthur Eugene. I know that Arthur Adams Briggs had only one daughter Eleanor and she never married. Eugene T. Briggs is burried in Empire Cemetery, Empire, WI. I don'[t know very much about James Eugene except that he was the son of Raymond H. Briggs and grandson of Eugene T. Sorry I can't help any more than that. There were many Briggs families that settled in Wisconsin in the 1850's. We may be able to link a little earlier if you have some of the ancestors of Arthur Eugene.
