Gile and son, Bob, of Merrillan were Tuesday evening guests at the Art Henning home, Division St. Mrs. A. A. Wassel returned to her home in Chicago Sunday morning after spending a short visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cheney Whitwam, Lynn Ave. Mrs. Whitwam accompanied her to Chicago for a week's stay. Ernest and Miss Doris Sveen, Hayden Ave., were dinner guests at the James Johnson home in Eau Claire Friday evening. Mrs. Fred J. Gloede, Hayden Ave., is convalescing at the Sacred Heart hospital in Eau Claire, following a major operation performed last Monday. Robert Knobel, First St. West, attended the Wisconsin - Minnesota basketball game Monday evening in Minneapolis. Wm. Glassbrenner, Lynn Ave., spent Saturday in Minneapolis on business and also visited Luis Bonie and Lloyd Bonin, formerly of this city, before returning on the "400" Saturday afternoon. Miss Frances Whitwam of Duluth was a weekend guest at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cheney Whitwam, Lynn Ave. Flying Cadet Harold Russell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Russell, Division St., returned home last weekend, after completing five weeks of primary training at Maxwell Field, Ala. He will remain home for several weeks unless he is called for further training at an air field in the south before that time. Sunday guests at the Andrew Matysik home, Hayden Ave., were Rev. K. Deis, Lynn Ave.; Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Matysik of Foster; and Mr. and Mrs. I. C. Sobczak and son Jimmie, of Alma Center. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Thompson, Mrs. Maud Thompson of Eau Claire and Mrs. Herman Kersten, Hayden Ave., this city, motored to Minneapolis last week to spend the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Bonie and son Luis George. Miss Betty Gilbert, formerly of Minneapolis, has returned to her home on Garfield Avenue. ++AND -- this one's for you Shell! Mr. and Mrs. Charles Christy of Milwaukee announce the birth of a 6 lb., 6 3/4 oz. baby girl on Tuesday, Feb. 24. Mrs. Christy was formerly Miss Esther Schlewitz of the town of Washington, sister of Carl Schlewitz, Daniels Ave. +++++++++++++++++ Well, I better get busy! The men are all outside on this damp and dreary day -- but at least it's not raining buckets! So they are hard at work getting the siding up. I better get my work done in the house!
