>From the 5 March 1942 edition of the Altoona Tribune: The Study Club of St. Mary's met at the home of Mrs. Frank Jones, First St. E., Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 25, and will meet at the home of Mrs. H. P. McDonald, Lynn Ave., today, Thursday. Mrs. Myrtle Smith of Weston left Tuesday after spending a week at the home of Mrs. Marie Decker, Spooner Ave. Engineer Cliff Tucker of St. Paul brok a leg and ankle of the other leg when he fell off the engine on train 490 last Saturday morning in St. Paul. Mr. and Mrs. George Jacobson of Merrillan spent a short time Saturday afternoon with the former's sister, Ruth Jacobson, Third St. E., before attending the finals of the District basketball tournament in Eau Claire. Games will be played for the benefit of the Badger Bomber fund at the City Auditorium Monday night, Marc 9, at 8 p.m. 20 games for 25 cents. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Jacobson and Mrs. George Holden of Lake Altoona motored to Fall Creek Saturday. Mrs. Joe Frank, Altoona St., Eau Claire, entertained her Altoona 500 card club last Friday evening. Mrs. D. E. Neill, Division St., is new employed at the 400 Club Lunch Room, beginning there Wednesday morning. Mrs. A. F. Simons of Humbird was a guest of Mrs. G. Stanley, 5th St. W., on Tuesday evening.
