>From the Daily Telegram, Eau Claire, WI on Thursday, 12 March 1942: Society Briefs: The Union Valley PTA will meet Friday evening. An interesting program will be furnished by students of the State Teachers College. Sylvester Gullickson will sing and a short play will be given by the students. The program committee includes Marie Cernaghan, Mrs. John Miley and Mrs. Wm. Miley. Mrs. Geo. Wendt, Mrs. J. Miley, and Mrs. John Lantz are on the lunch committee. Mr. and Mrs. William Biesterveld, formerly of Eau Claire, now in Chicago, announce the birth of a daughter, Christine Jo, on March 6th. Group 3 of the First Lutheran Circle will meet Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Heggen, 1132 E. Madison Street, assisted by Mrs. O. T. Moen and Mrs. Ole Johnson. The Bethesday Lutheran Young People's Society will meet Friday evening for an informal meeting at the home of Mae and Leona Teigan, 546 Cochrane Street. The Ladies of the Royal Arch held their March meeting at the Masonic Temple Wednesday evening. The ladies' first prize in bridge went to Mrs. R. A. Foss and the Men's prize went to Harry Wright. The boost was won by Mr. Foss. Personals: Pvt. Richard Ryan is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ryan, Sr., 1228 Main Street, on a furlough from Ft. Jackson, SC. Mrs. Richard Munson and three sons of 733 Bolles Street are moving to DesMoines, IA where Mr. Munson has secured employment in a defense plant. Arthur LeMay is ill at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Paul. ++++++++++++++++++++++ My trip to the Railroad Museum in Spooner, WI yesterday was wonderful! So much information, you can't possibly see it all in one visit (if you're really into trains!). Lots of pictures and memorabilia. And many, many references to Altoona and Eau Claire! Signs and whistles and bells and lights galore! I even found my grandfather in a book that contains the employees of the railroad! I had a great time -- and it only cost $3.00! -- Nance
