If you have arrived here by clicking on the GenConnect board links, this is NOT A MISTAKE! As of Thursday evening, 21 June 2001, the new Message Board system was put into place. We are all learning about the new features together, but I hope that once you get the hang of this, you will find the new system even better than the old one! For clarification, all of the old boards (Queries, Biographies, Obituaries, Bible Records, Deeds, Pensions, and Wills) have been combined and added to this one board. Posting is easy, but first you will need to obtain a User Name and Password, so be sure to do that before attempting to add anything to the new boards. If you've posted in the past, you may want to make sure you use the same user name as before, and then your email address will show up on your old messages as well as your new messages! (It's called making Universal Changes!) You will be prompted the first time you attempt to post to obtain User Name and Password, or you can click on the "Log In" link at the top right corner of this board under the Rootsweb Logo. When posting, please be sure to put only the surnames that are in the post in the "SURNAMES" section of the form. This will help others who are looking for specific surnames by not cluttering up a search with items that do not contain that name. It is good, also, to make use of the Classification feature of the new forms. You may also choose to put what type of posting you are submitting in the Subject line (as I did with my "informational" note). These will ensure ease of use for not only you, but for the other visitors/researchers to this message board. PLEASE NOTE: As of this writing (25 June), the classification for query is the default for these boards and is not an item you can click on -- anything other than a query DOES have a classification. I hope you will find this new message board to be of help to you in your research. Please feel free to explore and find out what all the new features can do for you. If you have problems or questions, you may want to check the blue bar at the bottom of each page. This bar includes links to the Message Board FAQs and to the Message Board Help page. I will also try to help you as much as I can, but please remember, I'm new to this too! :~) Thanks and have fun! Nance Sampson Eau Claire Co. WIGenWeb CC/Mail List and Board Admin
