HORAN - At his residence in the 4th ward, of this city, Thursday, May 8th, 1879, Thomas Horan died aged 73 years. The decesaed was born in the county of Tipperary, Ireland, December 21, 1806. He was married in 1831, immigrated to Canada in 1842, thence to Eau Claire, Wisconsin in 1863. Mr. Horan was a man of noble soul, genial nature, acclaimed for his strict integrity, high sense of humor, and deep religious convictions. His social qualities made him a desirable companion, his sympathetic heart a dear friend, his public appeal an honored and respected citizen. Until recently, his health was exceptionally good; but of late his ??? strong frame gave evidence that nature would soon demand the penalty affixed to mortal entities. Thursday morning at 2 o'clock, surrounded by family and friends, his spirit peacefully departed, under guidance of the ministering angel, mended the way to the realm of everlasting life, to receive the crown of glory, the promised reqard of a well-spent Christian life. When the death angel hilights the bad in infancy with his chill breath, we chide him with our ! tears. When he culls the flowers of youth with his frigid finger, out heartfelt sorrow rebukes his cruel act; but death to age, cheered by the consciousness of a great life, appears in his true light, as the best of God's angels, resting a moral fr??? prison of clay, and ushering it into the region of pearly gates and jasper streets. A large concourse of friends and neighbors assisted this forenoon in paying the best tribute of respect to the departed, in consigning his dust to its resting place in the First ward cemetery.
