Posted on: EauClaire Co. Wi Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/EauClaire/10669 Surname: Noteware, Smith ------------------------- My grandfather's parents, Emma Ann Noteware-Smith and Martin Lorenzo Smith, lived in either Eau Claire Co or Chippewa Co during the mid to late 1800's they had at least 3 children that we know of. The children were George Alfred (b. 1881), Sheldon and Elizabeth. Sheldon taught Sunday School at a church (name unknown) and was probably the oldest. He drowned attempting to rescue someone else from drowning at a Sunday School picnic. My grandfather talked little about his famiily in WI. He left home at 16 and followed the Weyerhauser Timber Co to Washington State where he met and married my grandmother and had his family. I am researching for my father, Laurence Smith who is 81 now and would like to know more about his WI relatives. If any of these names sound familiar to anyone please respond. We thought that maybe the drowning would have been printed in a newspaper????
