Wi Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Wi/EauClaire/10610 Surname: ------------------------- Kay, All the information I have about Eugene Flagstad at this time is that he was born 24 Jan 1919 and married Irene Barnum 4 Nov 1939 in Milwaukee, Wi at Gesu Church. If I find more I will let you know. Further info regarding the Flagstads includes: Alfred and Ellen Frances Boyle married in Brantford, Ontario,Canada.Alfred died 26 March 1940 in Eau Claire, Wi and is buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery there. He was a Draftsman. Ellen died 27 May 1957 and is buried next to Alfred. Ellen was a cousin of my mother's. I am in touch with two different branches of Ellen's family. One gave me information from the "Flagstad Bible". I will check with her and see if there is anything else about the Flagstads in there. Could you clarify for me who Juni Carlothe Flagstad was? You said she married Edward Johnson. Is this the same person as Julia Johnson, or what is the connection? Is John A. born 1863 the same as Alfred's father John? I have a death date for him as 17 Dec 1916 and for Julia Johnson Flagstad of 30 July 1923, both in Norway. Regards, Joanne

    3. Maybe you could check the library for the newspaper that was in print at that time. There may be an obit. Again please let me know how I can be more help. > Jim, How wonderful of you to offer help. For 6 long years, I didn't know who my great Grandmother, Effa Graves was. She was just a name and an antique ink well that a student painted for her and a person my mother dearly loved. Mother said she was so sweet and gentle. Just recently I have found 4 new cousins who have pictures of her, some of which I had, and of her family. We are now 2 from Washington State, one from Janesville, and me, from Florida. We've shared pictures and notes and followed a website that led me back to 110 pages of ancestors to the time of their Immigration in 1630. It has been wonderful and worth the wait. I have listed my little web pages of pictures Effa Graves Mason Effie and James Graves More Graves Family Anna Graves. I have the pictures and now I want to know even more. There is something about her that seems so haunting. James, Effa's father moved to Bridge Creek between 1872 and Jan 30th of 1875. Effa was the fourth child and I am not sure if Dora, her next oldest sister was born in Horicon, Dodge Co., WI or Augusta. Dora was born in 1872. I'd like to find out where they lived and what the town looked like then. We are also having a great deal of trouble finding information on James's wife, Effie Bobier/Boyer. We aren't even sure of her name. She died Jan 27, 1899 and is buried in East Lawn Cemetery but the grave is unmarked. I am going to write for the death certificate, but there should be a will or some property transfer around that time. On the land patents, I can't see where James had property, but he is listed as a farmer. If you could find out, I would be so grateful. If he didn't own property the only clue is going to be the census of 1880 where James is listed between Horice Stiles, a stonemason and Charles Marson, a miller. Next to Mr. Marson is James McCaffery who had two servants so probably owned land and on the other side of Mr. Stiles is Charles LaGraft. One of the things I am most curious about is the school. Mr. Stiles had a daughter who taught school and our Effa also taught school, possibly the same school, between 1893-1898 when she married Andrew Mason. She may have been teaching in Auburn in Chippewa Co. where Andrew lived, but I think August is more probable. Maybe she even taught some of your ancestors. Wouldn't that be something? These are my research goals and you can pick or chose amongst them. Any help you want to lend would be wonderful. I'd like to know just where the Twp of Bridge Creek is and what it is like. Like you, I enjoy wandering cemeteries and I have looked for graves here in Fernandina Beach for people I don't know. Sometimes we can't return the favor for the person who helped us, but we can pass it on. I'm a librarian and I help researchers hoping other librarians will help me. Should you encounter some our of pocket expense, I will be glad to repay you. Thanks again, Anne

I received information from a distant cousin in CA since posting my request. She is a descendant of John and Julia (Johnson) Flagstad thru their daughter Helga. My great-grandfather Carl Lauritz (Charles Lars) Flagstad was a brother to John. Their parents were Lars and Gurina (Nickoliessen) Flagstad. Lars and Gurina died in Eau Claire and are buried in the Lutheran Church Cemetery. If you would like further information on Charles or his parents, let me know. Do you know what happened to Eugene Francis Flagstad? Kay

    1. [WIEAUCLA] CONNER - CONNERS
    2. Susan Budensiek
    3. I know this is a long shot, but I am looking for a man that I have a picture of whose last name appears to be CONNER or CONNERS. I have no first name because I can't read it on his uniform. He appears to be a WWII pilot, quite possibly from Eau Claire, since this picture was in my parents' belongings and that is where they had always lived. He was important enough to them that they had a 5x7" photo and corresponding negative of this man, but never told me about him. The round patch on the left shoulder of his uniform shows only a little and looks like the tip of a wing in the center, with the word(s) across the top of the patch starting with "S" and the second letter looks much like it could be an "E". If you have any knowledge of who this man could be, please email me at susanb@conc.tds.net Thanks so much! Susan

    2. Thanks Nancy for the info. I am not sure what I am looking for in a connection and will certainly keep your info for reference. All I know is Cousins reported two trips to the "Paddock Farm" while visiting "Relatives". one trip pre-1930's and one trip during the 30's. Was hoping for an easy answer like a wife with one of my surnames... but genealogy can't be that easy... HA HA. Thanks so much for your help !!!! 3. I don't think that they are related. Joseph Wyman was b 1800 Westminster MA m Almira Johnson. Their children that I know of were Lucy Paddock b 1825 VT, Althyne Close b 1834 VT, & David b ? VT. I think that Joseph, Almira, Althyne & David were in Jefferson Co WI in 1855. I know that Anson and Lucy came to WI after the birth of their son in VT in 1855 and before Althyne's marriage to John Close in Bridge Creek in 1858. David married Mattie Kern in Milwaukee in 1866. He lived in Minneapolis and had 2 children that I know of, Frank and Dr Mattie Wyman , later of Seattle. 2. Hi Anne I just read your post and if you could give more specific info I'll try to help as much as I can. I was born and raised in Augusta and most of my ancestors also lived in Augusta, Fall Creek, Bridge Creek, and Hay Creek areas. Although I live three hours away right now I try to get home as often as I can to go to the public library and look thru microfilms for obits, wedding announcements, and anniversary announcements. I also enjoy walking around all of the cemeteries looking for relatives and taking pictures to add to my research book. Again please let me know how I can be more help. Jim Ida JI31313@aol.com
