Hi my name is Jim and I am from Augusta Wisconsin. A lot of my family grew up in the Hay Creek area of the Town of Bridge Creek. I also have Zank's in my family tree but do not have an Ottilie as yet. Looking through the church records and obituaries in local paper there were a lot of Zank's that lived in the area. Who are some others in your tree? Are they all from the same area? I will keep my eyes open each time I go back home to look for clues for you.

When twelve years of age, in 1869, he came to Eau Claire, and while still quite young he started in the logging business, which he followed for about eleven years. After severing his connection with the lumbering industry he entered the employ of the Phoenix Manufacturing Company, remaining with them for two years. He then embarked in the hotel business, in which he has since continued and is still successfully engaged. His parents, both of whom are now deceased, were Erick and Bract (Saker) Skamser, who were the parents of twelve children, as follows: Sever, Loss, Louis, Christ, Edward, Alif, Erick (the subject of this sketch), George, Leona, Thayer, Thomas and Otto. Mr. Skamser is a thrifty, progressive and up-to-date hotel man, and is one of the prosperous citizens of the city who is in sympathy with any movement tending to the betterment of his community. He is a member of the Sons of Norway and of the Norwegian Lutheran church. He was married to Miss Sarah Olson, daughter of Abraham Olson, of Eau Claire, and they are the parents of four children, viz: Erick, Archie, Leonard and Esta Skamser. --Transcribed from the "History of Eau Claire County Wisconsin, 1914," pages 859 - 860.

All I had for Sarah Ann Cowell (1880-1918) was that she married on Apr 9 1897 in Dunn township but I didn't have the name of her husband. Ezekiel Cowell was the son of Samuel Cowell and his first wife Catherine Dickhout. Nancy Ann Barry was the daughter of James Barry and his first wife Francis (last name unk). I am also a descendent of James Barry and Francis. I am also a descedent of Samuel Cowell's second wife, Hannah King Carnes (at the time of her marriage to Samuel, she was the widow of Matthew Carnes). My gggrandparents were Mary Ann Barry and Walter Carnes. Maybe we can share info.

I have limited info because Sarah died when my mother was only 5 yrs. old. I have found a Cayuga, N Y, Ontario County but not a Cayuga in Canada. Any thoughts on this & or additional family history would be appreciated.
