Surnames: Kershner Southmayd Ferguson Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hFC.2ACI/831 Message Board Post: Eau Claire Free Press, Thursday, October 30, 1870: The funeral of Wm. Kershner took place Friday morning, from the residence of his son in law, David Ferguson, at Shawtown. The procession moved to Forest Hill cemetery, where his wife was buried about a year ago. The number of carriages which followed the remains to their last resting place was unusually great, and shows that a great number of friends must have assembled at the obsequies.

    1. [WIEAUCLA] Braman Photos...HELP!!!!!
    2. Patsy Frank
    3. Hi All! I have just gotten some photo albums containing LOTS of Braman Family members from my Mother, who is 80 years old....most of the photos are of individuals, but they are grouped as husband and wife on opposing pages. There are numerous generations and lots of pictures. Can anyone advise me on how to determine who these people are or how to go about identifying them? Some of these photos are extremely old...anyone have an idea of when photographs were first printed? Thanks for any help or advice you can offer! Patsy

    1. [WIEAUCLA] Uhl Family & Other Obits...
    2. Patsy Frank
    3. Hello! I am not sure just what to do with some old data, newspapers, pictures, a bible and letters that I recently received. I have a lot of data about the Uhl family that settled in Crystal Valley near Galesville, in Trempealeau County. I can not go into any details at this time...but if someone out there knows of any Uhl's that may be looking for ancestors from Trempealeau County...let me know. I also have some old "Galesville Independent" newspapers with obituaries of a number of local residents. (The current Galesville newspaper is the Galesville Republican) Most of these are from 1900-1920. The photos that I have are in beautiful condition, but unsure whether they are local or not...does anyone know how to identify photos? Any suggestions on how to identify the people? I would also like to find a place for reproduction of photos such as these. Some are mounted on cards which were inserted into albums. Others are of a form that I have never seen. I also have postcard albums...postcards mounted into albums. Some of them are historical buildings of the era, others are issues of the time, some are 3-D with moving parts and others are just beautiful postcards. Most are either dated by manufacturer or have date of postmark. This is a mountain of information for the right families...I just need help in finding those families. I suspect that someone, some where is looking for data on these people and I would like to connect them. Patsy

    3. Hello again, Claire, My apologies on the statement that I made just now. I did not mean to imply that there were no answers for you. I just meant that these obits were probably not printed in the Eau Claire newspapers because of the distance between River Falls and Eau Claire. I'm really sorry if I've confused you. But then again, maybe they were. Do you know if the Sansburns ever lived in the Eau Claire area? I guess I better hit the hay and get some sleep before I mess anything else up! Again, I apologize for my blunder. I hope you will find what you are looking for and if I can be of any help, although I don't live in Eau Claire Co., I have some great Eau Claire Co. resources that I'd be happy to look through for you. -- Nance mailto:nsampson@spacestar.net Nance Sampson wrote: > Hi Claire, > > First, welcome to the Eau Claire Co. mail list. Last Monday, the strange mystery connected with his disappearance was solved, as his body was discovered in Porter & Moon's log boom, about five miles below town, thus showing that he met a watery grave on a cold winter night. His body had remained in the river nearly nine months and the flesh was much decomposed. His remains were properly interred by his friends and relatives.

What time frame are you looking at? The two predominantly Norwegian churches were Our Savior's Lutheran [whose records were filmed by the LDS and should be available in a Family History Center or through interlib. loan from the UW-Eau Claire Special Collections] and First Lutheran whose records have not been filmed unfortunately. First Lutheran Church, 1005 Oxford Ave., Eau Claire, WI 54701, they might be able to do a look-up for you if you give them a time frame. Grace Lutheran also had many Norwegian/Scandinavian members. Since I do look-ups for Grace, I'll check the names the next time I am there. A time frame would be helpful. Anita

    3. Hi Folks, It is good to see the activity on the Eau Claire Co. mail list again. A large part of this activity is a result of the new Eau Claire Co. message board, where people are posting queries. I am sending this note to you, the subscribers of this mail list [WIEAUCLA] as a reminder, and also a guide to how to identify certain posts, and how to respond to them accordingly. PLEASE REMEMBER -- THE EAU CLAIRE CO. MESSAGE BOARD IS GATEWAYED TO THIS MAIL LIST -- If a query has been posted on the message board, it will appear on this mail list because of this gateway. These messages are easy to identify as they all begin with these lines (see actual example below): >This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. >Surnames: Matchette, Clark >Classification: Query >Message Board URL: >http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hFC.2ACI/361.360 >Message Board Post: >I have a Albert L. Not all people who post queries on the message board are on this mail list!!! If you post your response to the mail list, the person with the question will never see it. So instead of posting to the mail list, please take the time to click on the link that says "Message Board URL". It will take you to the query that you want to respond to. Once there, click on the "Post Reply" link within the box that the original query is in and a form will open for you to write your response to the person that is asking the question.
