(Deke) Shafer, 69, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Shirley Thompson, Rt. 4, Menomonie, Sunday, Nov. 7. The funeral will be held Thursday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. from the New Hope Lutheran church, Downsville, with the Rev. Robert Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill cemetery, Downsville. Friends may call at the Olson Funeral Home today and Thursday until 11 a.m. and at the church until the time of the services. Mr. Shafer is survived by his wife, Elma, town of Red Cedar; seven children: Erna, Mrs. Geroge Peterson, Byron, Ill.; Floyd, Ozark, Ala.; Stanley, San Antonio, Tex.; Lester, city; Clifford, Loves Park, Ill.; Arthur, Peoria, Ill., and Dennis, Kenosha. Also three sisters: Rosella, Mrs. Charles Kistner, Rt. 5, Menomonie; and Nellie, Mrs. Shirley Thompson, Rt. 4, Menomonie; one brother, Delbert, Portland, Ore.; 25 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
