An 18-year-old Wheeler man died Sunday when he was struck by a car at about 2:30 a.m. in the town of Howard, Chippewa County. Robert J. Micheels, of Route 1, was pronounced dead of massive head injuries at the scene by Chippewa County Deputy Coroner William Kempe. Micheels apparently was lying on the pavement on Highway DD, north of Highway 40, when he was struck by a car, according to Douglas Ellis, a Chippewa County Sheriff's Department investigator. The highway was snow-covered abnd slippery, said Ellis, who declined to release the name of the dirver of the car pending further investigation. ..remained of article not clipped... He was born in Menomonie and was a seniro at Colfx High School, Colfax. Survivors include his mother, Mary Knuth, Minot, N.D.; his foster parents, Robert and Deborah Aaron, Wheeler, a brother Bill, Whithall; a sister, Deborah Micheels, Menomonie, and a half brother, Don Knuth, Minot, N.D. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Colfax United Methodist Church. The body will be cremated. There will be no visitation.
