    3. Norwegian history explored A group of approximately 100 people will gather at the Holiday House Convention Center, Downtown, Eau Claire, on Sept. 26-28, 2002. Their purpose will be to learn techniques of researching their family tree, where ancestors came from the Akershus and Oslo area of Norway, and to do some actual researching of their roots from Norway. The organization called Romerikslaget i Amerika is a non-profit group and will be holding it s 13th annual gathering. The following are a few highlights of the three-day gathering. Opportunity to view over 100 roles of microfilm of church and government records from Norway dating back to the year 1775, hear about the history of the first Norwegians landing in America over 1,000 years ago, learn why your ancestors immigrated from Norway and hardships they experienced, hear a presentation on Norwegian immigrant women and learn "her-story" versus "his-tory". Everyone will have numerous opportunities to taste good old Norwegian baked foods. Persons wishing to pre-register can do so by contacting Evelyn Krigsvold, 1715-835-8718. Rooms can be reserved by calling the Holiday House Convention Center-Downtown at 1-800-950-6121.
