    1. [DUNN] Re: Update on CASSEL/WOOD Families in Dunn County, Wisconsin
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Cassel Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gFC.2ACI/1296.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Katherine, I sent you an e-mail with some info on it. Wanted to check in with you about the Rooney connection, as you can see from my e-mail, George's wife was a Thompson not a Rooney, BUT their daughter Ruby Cassel married a Claud Rooney on May 16, 1905 in Eau Galle, according to the James Meier history of the family book. I've been having problems with sending attachments by e-mail or uploading to my websites since I changed to msn in Feb. If you have any ideas, please let me know. (noticed you were on msn too) Did I see somewhere you were checking on the Raitt name? Seemed like I did, but I can't remember. Found that one of William Cassel's daughters, Josie married a Charles Raitt of Durand, Wis. James Meier book mentions too that "there are Rooney's buried in the Waubeek Cemetery, Waubeek Twp., located on County Road D, a few miles east of Eau Galle on the way to Durand." Also in the 1870 census for Dunn County, Wis there is a: Wood, Walter age 29 Farmer b. New York Wood, Maria age 21 Keeps. H. b. Penn Cassil, George age 18 Laborer on Farm b. Ohio I think this is George Cassel, son of Jacob because just a few houses away is family of Mary Belle Thompson, his future wife and in 1880 he is living with them and working in her father's saw mill. Do you know who Walter and Maria Wood are?
