I knew he had to be related somehow for George to be living with them. Thanks for George's middle name. We never had that!! Interesting that Eliza married her brother-in-law after his brother died. Do you think that the Raitz that I mentioned that married one of the Cassel girls is related to your Raitz family? I will try to check out other Rooney connections in the book that James Meier wrote. I wish I could ask him about his research but he died in 1998 and his brother Robert Meier finished the book and got it in the hands of family. I have talked to Robert but he hadn't done any of the research and couldn't give me any answers. Jacob G. Cassel was supposed to have come from Wayne County, Ohio before moving to Iowa. I looked up some census for Wayne county but didn't find anything but I did find some land records with some other Cassels there. Stephen Cassel bought 8 acres there on Aug. 6, 1834 at the Wooster Ohio land office. The name James Ligget is on the record too. Also 2 Castle's; John T., and Samuel Castle bought land in Waupaukonetta (can't find this place on the map) and Samuel in Wooster, OH. Wooster is in Wayne County, OH. Love to find out who Jacob's parents were. Jim's book says that Jacob died in Wisconsin and is buried in Waubeek Cemetery. Jim lived in the area his whole life so but I don't know if he saw a tombstone for Jacob or not or whether he got that info from somewhere else. The down side to his book is that it doesn't have very many sources. He does say that he found census records etc. but doesn't document them. Where did you info come from for his death in Iowa? Got to check some more messages.
