He was born on august 17, 1842 in Aurora Illinois and lived there until he was 20 years old when he moved to Manchester Iowa. July 3, 1866 he married Mary Etta Utley of Cleveland Ohio. They had a daughter named May Elting in Whitewater Wisoncsin on December 7 1843. Maybe May was nicknamed Etta? She died December 12, 1930 in Sanjose Calcifornia and is buried in Oak hill Cemetery San Jose CA. My information does not say who she married. Does this sound like it could be the same John C. Massee? Let me know anymore information you may have and we can compare notes. Plus I will post a message on a new Massee web page that was just created recently.
