I came across a note in an unpublished book by Thomas J. Stavrum on the Stavrum family. It states that Phillip's parents were Joshua and Sally (Howard) Steves. I'm not sure where Tom got his information and we can no longer find out, since Tom is deceased. It also states that Jerome Steves was born 12 October, 1837 at Clarkson, Monroe County, NY. And Jerome migrated from McHenry County, Illinois to Dunn County, Wisconsin with his uncle, William Vasey in 1858. I'm not directly related to the Steves family. Jerome's son, Fred married Minnie Stavrum. Minnie is a half sister to my direct ancestor.
