Kistner Chester Kistner, 80, died June 25 at Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie. The son of Charlie and Rosella (Shafer) Kistner, he was born on June 4, 1910 in the Township of Dunn. He married the former Thelma Dewey on March 30, 1932 in Hayward. He logged and cut ice in the Hayward area when he was younger. He returned to the Downsville area and worked for the Phillips Feed Mill in Downsville. He also worked with draft horses all of his life. He was on the Rose Hill Cemetery board, and he also dug graves for many years at Rose Hill and Riverview Cemeteries in the Township of Dunn. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Thelma of Menomonie; one daughter, Elaine Hilmanowski of Downsville; seven sons, Gerald Kistner of Menomonie, Delbert Kistner of Eau Claire, Roland Kistner of Menomonie, Clair Kister of Menomonie, Roy Kistner of Menomonie and Charles Kistner of Menomonie; two sisters, Beryl Stewart of Elmwood and Viola Hoyt of Durand; four brothers, Darrell Kistner of Menomonie, Wesley Kistner of Bloomer, Everett Kister of Ridgeland and John Kistner of Yucaipa, Calif; and 31 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at 3:30 p.m. for the family and 4 to 9 p.m. for the public on Wednesday, June 27 and from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 28 at the Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at New Hope Lutheran Church in Downsville one hour before the services. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 28 at New Hope Lutheran Church, Rev. Ardis Wright officiating. Interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in the Township of Dunn.
