The major part of his life was spent operating this farm. He served as a soldier in the United States Army during the Spanish-American War. He was united in marriage to Alice Peterson Sept. 26, 1906. To this union were born five children, Claudia Kelsey, Lucile Romstad, Russel, Elsie Olson, and Anton Jr. There are eleven grandchildren: Barbara Kelsey, who passed away elven years ago, Claudette Kelsey; Charles, Judy, Alice, Karl and David Romstad; Bernice and Roberta Jacobson, James and Billy Olson. Anton was the youngest of nine children, all of whom have preceded him in death except one sister, Thora Meyers, of Northwood, North Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Little Elk Creek Church, and was a member there until the time of his death at 3:15 a.m., Saturday, July 9, 1949, at the home of his daughter, Elsie.
