Cartwright, was born in Modom, Norway, December 6, 1939, and is a son of Ole H. FJELD, who was born in Numdahl, Norway. His mother was born at Modom, Norway, and died about the first of October, 1890; she was seventy-eight years of age. Our subject has one brother, Ole Halixenson, born June 27, 1842, and one sister, Mary, who was born in May, 1844, in Norway, and is now married to Louis ENGEBRETSON, who is living in Auburn township, Chippewa County. Mr. FJELD, left his native land in April, 1881, landed in Philadelphia after a voyage of twelve days, and came at once to Auburn township, where he now resides on 160 acres of land, all under a good state of cultivation. His religious faith is that of the Norwegian Lutheran church. He casts his suffrage with the republican party.
