    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Byington, Massee, Phillips Classification: Biography Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gFC.2ACI/1323 Message Board Post: I am tracing the line of Adeline Byington, who also went by the name Adeline Massee. She was married to Claude W. Phillips in 1909 so her married name was Adeline Phillips. She was born on January 17, 1888 in Pepin Co, WI to Lucius Byington and Kate Hawkins Byington. Her mother died in 1889 and she went to live with Thomas and Rachel Massee in Dunn Co. Although her father did remarry, Adeline never returned to live with her biological family. But she did stay in contact with them. She went to school in Dunn Co, graduating from Menomonie High School in 1905 and from Normal School in 1907. She used the Massee name growing up, although she knew she was a Byington. She taught school in Dunn Co for two years before her marriage on Oct. 19, 1909. Claude and Adline Phillips had six children: Norma Goldean born Sept. 20, 1915 in Dunn Co - Everett Claude born Oct. 8, 1917 in Dunn Co - Ruby Mae born Jan. 27, 1920 at Brady, Pondera Co., Montana - Lula Katherine born Jan. 25, 1922 at Brady, Pondera Co, Montana - Eugene Lester born Dec. 15, 1924 in Kern Co, CA - Elwyn Wendell born April 30, 1927 in Kern Co, CA.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Phillips, Bentley, Tinker, Hawkins, Babcock Classification: Biography Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gFC.2ACI/1322 Message Board Post: I am tracing the James Burdick Phillips family line. He was born in New England, I believe Jefferson Co., NY, about 1818. He married Lois C. Bentley in Wakeman, Huron Co., Ohio in 1842. Together James and Lois had eight children. They moved from Ohio to Wisconsin about 1849. They were in Winnebago Co in 1850 and Waupaca Co in 1860. He served in the 17th Wisc. Infantry during the Civil War and before 1870 he moved his family to Dunn Co., WI. He and Lois were divorced there in 1882, after forty years of marriage. Lois Phillips died in Dunn Co. on Nov. 18, 1891 and James B. Phillips died in Weston, Dunn Co. on April 29, 1895. Because he left no will, his surviving children filed in probate court in 1905. Their children were as follows: Mary Lucrecia born c1844 in Ohio, married Tinker, died after 1905 when she & husband lived at South Superior, WI - William B. born c1846 in Ohio, married, died near Dayton, OH 1882 to 1905 - Angelina b. c1849 in Ohio, died before 1860 - James William born c1852 in Wisc, died after 1905 when he was living in Lakeville, WI - Aldis Carlton born 1853 in Wisc, married Emma Hawkins in Dunn Co, divorced c1888 in Dunn Co, disappeared, was alive in 1905 but residence was unknown to family - Evangeline (aka Eva) born c1856 in Wisc, married Stephen Babcock, died after 1905 when she was living in Dunn Co - Frank born c1859 in Wisc, died before 1870 - one child unaccounted for, divorce records say there were eight but I can only find seven.

    1. [DUNN] Moe lookup request
    2. Linda Schwartz
    3. I am seeking further information about John H. Moe. This is what I know: John H. Moe, b. 16 July 1882 in Wisconsin (per death certificate) Died: 1 Feb. 1964 in Hudson, WI Parents: Hans Mo and Sigrid Olson (per death certificate and marriage record) Married: 9 Aug 1905 in Menomonie, Wis to Christina Score Lived in/near Christine, ND abt 1900-1905. Had a son, Hjalmer Moe, born there in 1902. (I'm not sure who the mother was) According to the 1880 census, there was a Hans and Sigrid Moe living in Menomonie with a son, Anders H. Moe, age 1. Can anyone do a lookup in the Registrar of Deeds office for the birth certificate of John H. Moe to verify his parents names? I'm also looking to determine if he married someone else prior to 1905 so would appreciate a lookup for a marriage license. The last name could have been spelled Mo, Moe, or Moen. Thanks! Linda

Suggestion #1: Check out the obituaries posted on the Dunn Co. GenWeg site to see if maybe Nels, etc are listed. Suggestion #2: Call the Area Research Center (Archives) in the Polk Library at the UW-Stout in Menonomie to see if they have Nels Thompson in their database of Naturalizations, etc.(The one norwegian record that I saw (for someone else) had listed all the children for the man.) Suggestion #3: Check out the online digital archives for Norway to see if you can find Aranda Amundson in their census or emigration records. Good luck. Deb
