Shirley was close to my age and I am 43 now. I recall she had an older brother and sister that I saw when I was very young. I think I once heard that Shirley had children and moved out of state. California maybe. I can't remember the names of the brother and sister. You probably wonder what my family's connection was to Glen and Madeline. My mother grew up in 'Ruby' country near Cornell and she liked to take Sunday drives to visit the area. My parents married in the 40's and lived in the Cornell area for a time. Glen and Madeline were good friends and my parents enjoyed visiting them. I think they may have played cards sometimes but they mostly sat and visited with one another. Glen and Madeline had a small farm near Cornell. They were very nice folks. My mother may have more information and I can ask if you like. Email -- ernie2cheryl@scattercreek.com Cheryl

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gFC.2ACI/1411 Message Board Post: Lucy Sorenson was listed in the 1870 census in Dunn County She was 19 yrs old at the time. The daughter of Torkil (Torkel) and Gunvor Sorenson. listed also on that census was brothers Ole, John, Soren, sister Anna. (Anna is my great grandmother) I have only heard mention of Lucy once by a first cousin of my grandfathers. He did not mention her name but said she had a son out of wedlock. In the 1880 census she is not listed but an 8 yr old boy named robert is listed as a son to Torkel and Gunvor. Gunvor was 63 yrs old and Torkel 74, it could be there son but Gunvor would have been 55 when he was born. I am suspecting that Robert belongs to Lucy (I might be very wrong women today have babies in to there late 50's) I would appreciated any information about Lucy and or Robert Sorenson. My father always said they had many Sorenson relatives in the Colax area. Thanks Roxanne

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gFC.2ACI/1393.2 Message Board Post: Hi Keith, I just saw your query about plot ownership. My great grandfather bought 8 plots Sept of 1904 in Eau Claire. Even though all of his family mostly lives in the Minneapolis area now. It never occure to anyone that he had any descendants.(he has many) So when a great great great nephew told the cemetery association he was the only living relative. They gave him the plots with no questions asked. I had to fight back by givinging them death records and birth certificates and obits to prove who I was and also all of my genealogy along with all of my first cousins. Lukily I got our family plot back because he was going to sell the remainder plots (6 of them). And it is believed that there are 3 people buried there maybe even 4, The cemetery records burned in 1925. I was mortified that this could happen. Roxanne

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Petersopn, Larskveen, Hanson, Johnson, Lund, Nelson Classification: Biography Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gFC.2ACI/1409 Message Board Post: Peter C. Peterson, a former lumber worker who within the last 30 years or so has built up a very good and valuable farm in Section 33, town of Rock Creek, was born in Skjaak, Gudbrandsdalen, Norway, Nov 9, 1867, son of Peter Larskveen by his wife Kari, whose family name was Grimstadodegard. Mr and Mrs Larskveen came to America in 1892 and for a year thereafter resided in the city of Eau Claire. In 1893 they came to reside with their son, Peter C. in the town of Rock Creek, Dunn County, but on account of poor health returned after some time to Eau Claire, where both died, Mrs Larskveen in 1920 and Mr Larskveen in 1921. They had five children: Peter C., of the town of Rock Creek; Martin, of Eau Claire; Marit, now deceased; Caroline, now Mrs Sever Johnson of Eau Claire; and Sina, who is Mrs Ed Hanson, of Eau Claire. Peter C. Peterson as a boy attended school in Norway until the age of 16 years, coming to the United States in 1884, and to Dunn County, Wisconsin. During his! first winter here he resided with friends and attended school. He then went to Eau Claire, where he attended school for two more terms, contunuing to reside in that city until 1893. During the greater part of that period he was employed by the Valley Lumber Company, but also worked for the Dells Lunder Coupany, during the summers in the mill and during the winters in the woods. In 1893 he returned to Dunn County and began his career as a farmer, buying 160 acres of wild land in section 33, town of Rock Creek. The lumber company at old Meridean (the Mississippi River Logging Co.) was then closing out its business in this locality and Mr Peterson bought one of their buildings, tore it down, moved the lumber to his farm and built a house with it, and also some small hay sheds. He then began the development of the land. He has also kept pace with the times by improving his buildings or erecting new ones. He has remodeled and enlarged his house into a fine residence, comp! leting this work in 1902, and in the same year erecting a good dairy barn of 30 x 60 feet, with 16 foot posts. In 1914 he built a cement block silo of 14 x 35 feet, and at different times he has added other out-buildings as the need for them arose. As a general farmer and dairyman he has been successful and the progress he has made reflects credit upon his industry and capacity. His herd of cattle are grade Guernseys and he has a fair number of hogs and fowls on his place. He is a stockholder in the Rock Falls Cooperative Creamery, while his public service included five years as school director. Mr Peterson was first married in April 1890, to Lena Nelson, who died Dec. 25 1902, leaving three children, Palmer, Nelvin and Carl. Palmer was born March 15 1901, and now a farmer in Eau Claire County, married Gena Lund and has three chuildren. Nelvin, born May 5, 1896, who is a butter maker at Meridean, married Berglott Embertson and has one child. Carl, born July 13, 1897! , and as yet unmarried, is a butter maker at Cleghorn, in Eau Claire County. On June 19, 1905 Mr Peterson was united in marriage with Thora Lund, of which union two children have been born, Adolph, on Nov 13, 1912, and Jacob, on May 16, 1914. Mr Peterson and his family are members of the Lutheran church. (NOTE-some of these dates are wrong) >From "History of Dunn County Wisconsin", 1925, printed by H. C. Cooper, Jr. & Co.
